Of course, it is the principle of democracy. Interestingly, in Germany which is a demcratic country, the state is collecting a tax for the church (the tax is mandatory unless you opt out of church).

What's odd is there is no seperation in Britain - the church of England is pretty much run by the state with the monarchy at the head (meaning the Queen is the head of the Church) and yet religion is more lax here than anywhere in the world.
Yet in the United States where there seperation is legally required, religion seems to be more promenant and fundimental than any other 1st world country.
So who knows, maybe it's like most things - legalise it and people get bored of it all too quickly.

Yeah why not? I don't know of a religion in which the material matters of state are any concern whatsoever.
Christians giving Caesar what is Gods, Hindus concerning themselves with the ongoing interests of Maya, Buddhists the least bit interested in the justification of or deliberation over desire, Gnostics loving the idol reflections of the prison walls.... none of these things make sense because they are hypocritical.
It'll happen soon enough.

Yes, the Church of England should be disestablished and the bishops should be removed from the House of Lords.

The heart of faith is humbly individual whilst the national pride is built on a majority verdict. So how on earth can they be considered one?.
