This is often quoted as a reason to be anti-gay, however, whilst I consider myself to be fairly well read I have not read any book or seen these laws written anywhere, so to the people who profess it is against the law of nature I would like to know where you came by this 'knowledge', and if you read the bible where is it stated specifically and not just a bigoted interpretation. Oh and whilst on the subject, how do you explain gay animals, they do exist.

Wow ! guess I must be a gay gene carrier and a superwoman too lol..... also sibling of gay bro's and a sister. Geeeeeez I smell gene carrier's everywhere in my family.
Jill gave us a wonderful insight into the bigotry and hate that the bible displays, thanks for that, It just reminded me big time as to why I rather be an Atheist and live with a peaceful mind and soul without hate festering. The Leviticus also quotes, it is an abomination to eat shellfish, does that mean everyone that likes and eats shellfish should be treated the same as homosexuals? Some how I don't think so. If you are going to quote the Bible to discriminate against one circle of people maybe you should dissect the Bible and see who is left that you can love. I can tell you there wont be many......
Homosexuality is genetics pure and simple!. Same for the animal kingdom.

I have a bisexual cat. Seriously. :-)

Bruce Bagemihl wrote this huge and fascinating book called Biological Exuberance on animal homosexuality. So many species have gay and bi members. Check out a very easy to read intro to the ideas here:

Bagemihl and I agree that pleasure is a good thing, even in the absence of procreation. Human bodies seem designed for that. Look at the placement of the clitoris (easier for fingers and tongues to reach than penii, and only meant for pleasure), the way the prostate is placed (men can enjoy anal stimulation because of it), and the enjoyment men get from oral sex.

Seems to me that the 'laws of nature' are little more that a subset of the laws of mathematics. Life, and even human life, has been on this planet for a loooong time, reproducing and hunting to find survival niches.

So that when you examine any natural situation, a small percentage will be in flux or transition, but by far the majority will be stable, functional and optimised. Any fat will have been trimmed off by natural selection, and any inefficiencies smoothed over.

When it comes to homosex, although it's obviously present all over the animal kingdom, it just doesn't need this as validation: it *works* for humans, and has done since Ogg the Cave Dude.

If there were any way in which gayness was bad for humankind it would have been wiped out 50,000 years ago - it's tough out there. Instead, it's ubiquitous - and that means not only that it ain't bad, it must actually be beneficial.

The simplest and most value-neutral mechanism for this is mooted as the explanation for how the 'gay gene' continues to spread: the genes that cause men to be gay are also carried in women, and cause them to be Supergirls. That is, these genes somehow enhance the ability of their female carriers to bear enough healthy offspring as to offset any loss by non-reproducing male carriers.

That must be more than simple fertility. Having the kids is not enough - they have to be fed and kept from danger, and they need high status.

(My own pet theory is that female 'gay gene' carriers are indeed Superwomen - they have such overwhelming femininity and sexuality that they're swept off by healthy, high-status males who fill them with babies. I've met some women who seem to be this unusual, and they're yummy. But who knows?)

Lol, reading the above answers, you have a few people who simply prove that homosexuality exists in nature. And then there comes one who simply quotes the Bible, and tells you it's wrong.

Which proves my point: there is nothing more unnatural than the supernatural.

Gay animals? Really? Haven't heard that one. I think that since people are born that way, that it is not against nature since nature had them. Maybe nature want's a way to "control the population?"

Ay, I know gay critters exist. I grew up out in the country and my family had a lot of animals.

there has been plenty of homosexual activity observed in all kinds of animals, see:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gay_animals#Homosexual_behavior

Also interesting, species who choose to mate for life still have sex with as many fit mates as they can find, come springtime. So much for monogamy as a 'law of nature' too.

Homosexuality is a Sin!

Leviticus 18:22
22 "`Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable."
Leviticus 20:13. "If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them."

1 Corinthians 6:9-10
9 Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders
10 nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.

Romans 1:25-27
25 They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator-- who is forever praised. Amen.
26 Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones.
27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion.
Genesis 19:1-29 says God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah because of homosexuality. It stinks in the nostrils of God. Genesis 13:13 identify the men of Sodom as exceedingly wicked sinners. Genesis 18:20 says that the sin of Sodom is "very grievous." Genesis 18:23 adds emphasis to the portrayal of the inhabitants of Sodom as "wicked." Genesis 18:24-33 shows that God could not find even 10 righteous souls in Sodom. The perverts who inhabited Sodom, even wanted to rape God's Angels who had come to Sodom to rescue them.

God's opinion about Homosexuality...Romans 1:24-32

"Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them."
