To overcome Depression and PTSD without seeing a councellor?
I'm suffering from both. I've tried councellors and they've all made my problems worse.

No i'm not on medication. I was for a while but I hated the thought of having to rely on medication to make me happy. It's silly, I know, but I just don't like it.

Yes, it is possible to overcome Depression and PTSD without seeing a councelor by having a time to rest and relax. Try to do the things you enjoyed just before you became depressed. Relaxing also in the perfect spot or with a scenic view with the smell of aroma around you makes yourself calm. And whatever happens over the day or even if it is the worst day for you. Dont forget to put a smile in your face.

My grandson has some problems with attention deficit and it took a little while for the family to accept that meds would help him.He has always had love, nutritous diet , routines, sports(soccer league.street hockeyetc) Cubs, accountibility.it was not enough. He would feelfrutrated at his inability to concentrate. He truly believed he was stupid, his word, not mine.He was put on a low dose of meds and what a difference it made for him.He enjoys school, his marks have improved and he is happier. He does not feel frustrated like in the past( just a normal range). The meds have allowed him to live his life to the fullest. He is not overmedicated which seems to be what most people are concerned about. Back to your question. With any meds they are intended to help you live a "normal" life.No one judges people who take meds for epilepsy, heart disease, pemphigus(my sister has this) or countless other illnesses. These meds allow people to live their life to their fullest potential.Issues concerning our mental health are no different. These meds will allow you to live your life as best you can. I know you want to advance in your education and that will create many new stresses for you.Depression can not be just shaken off ( someone actually told my brother to take a couple to grieve over the death of his wife and get on with life, duh), nor should it be ignored.I can't tell you meds will cure you but they may offer you some sense of "normalacy".Perhaps you need to look into a different councellor, they are not all created equal (someone graduated at the bottom of their class).Take care of yourself, you have a lot of life ahead of you.

The solution ultimately lies within your. However, it is difficult to get the perspective you need to find it, without competent assistance. I acknowledge, you had some negative experience with two school counselors. Don't let that experience, stand between you and the help you need.
You will learn in life, there is no shortage of incompetence, and general malpractice, amongst those who provide us with the various professional services we all seek. You will learn to recognize them, and eliminate them from your life. Don't dwell on the bad ones, dispense with them, and seek what you need.

Are you on medications? Because they take a while to kick in... or you could be on the wrong one.
As for counselors, they aren't for everyone, but maybe you have not found the right one. Also, sometimes it has to get worse before it gets better.
I'll pray for you.

Have you tried alternative treatments that work with nature, Diet can be one way of improving depression.try sprouted mung beans , fresh fruit, fresh vegatables, soya milk, cut down on your fat intake, (do not eat burgers, because of the additives) eat salads, stir fry veg, oatmeal bread, butter, cheese, drink herbal teas and juices, water and add glucose to your tea milk cereals etc.Use essential oils to lift your spirits and meditate to relax instead of filling your system with pills.
