I have an ear infection which was diagnosed on Friday. It is the ear canal that is infected. The pain and deafness started on Tuesday. When the Doc looked in my ear she said it was full of pus that is why I am deaf and that it would start to drain out. Well I've not had any drainage yet but the hearing has improved a bit. It feels like it's still in there but feel wet like water trapped. I'm also getting clicking noises. Why isn't it draining?
I really don't think it has drained at night, I have checked the pillow and my ear is completely dry.

It may be draining to the inside rather than coming out of the ear.

dear, i'm having the same case as u do. dont use cotton bud to clean ur ear coz in fact u might push the pus further in ur ear. it will get trapped there, accumulated and will cause a worse case. now u r having otitis externa, dont let it become otitis media. it's more painful and dangerous. the drainage mayB had going down ur throat while u r sleeping because ear, nose and throat r connected to each other. better if u had the drainage done at the doctor's office. they have better equipment there. the pus in ur ear will not drain easily. mine took 3 months (after i had an operation) to dry completely. i started with otitis externa as well, juz like u.

I think the ear drains through the tube to the throat, could be wrong, but I do not think you will find anything on your pillow. Give it time the Body has a way of sorting these problems out.

sorry to hear that it sounds well painful, probably not the wisest advice but if it were me i would be trying to hurry up the process by using a cotton bud, just gentle wipe inside your ear and see what happens. If you don't wont to do that then go back to your doctors and tell them nothings happened and ask them if they could give you some advice, maybe try a warm flannel over your ear that might loosen it up a bit. hope you get it sorted out soon. x =)

ear nose and throat all conected so if it hasnt come out one way it must have gone the other.keep your ear out of draft by placing a bit of cotton wool at the ear opening .never prod or push anything in i know its irritating but it will go away ,later ask your doc to check for ear wax,
