I have to dance with my dad, apparently, so I why don't I have to dance with my mom too? Can I have a mother daughter song? Can my parter have a father son dance?

sure, why not? it is your affair, your party. you can do whatever you want. it is not wrong to dance with your mom, or your partner to dance with his dad. you are just trying to show respect to your parents-give importance to them. there's nothing wrong with that.

I seen lots of brides dance with their moms following the father daughter thing but not as a separate dance (mostly because moms and girls seem to get too emotional and dads manage to make a few jokes and hold it together == i think). I also wouldnt want to detract from your dads big moment (your mom got all the glory when you were born lol). That being said, I would think the father son dance thing would be awkward as hell......

I've never seen a mother/daughter song but if you want it, it's your wedding. Maybe you should consider having a song where your future husband dances with your mom and you dance with his dad. You could even start off the song dancing with your mom and then you guys just switch partners. It's your wedding so get as creative as you want. Congratulations and good luck.

Of course you can - it's great! When I got married, my father had passed away two years previously. I had my older brother dance with me after my husband and I danced. At some point later, my very conservative mom came and got me for a dance, and it was SO wonderful! It gave us a chance to take a breath and have a very nice talk with each other! I really treasure that memory (and the pic of us is really cute!)!
