I was in the military for six years and after we lost Vietnam on 30th April 1975 I got out of the military and went on with my life. So we lost. No big deal. The USA is still here and I'm doing fine. When we lose Iraq ( And we Will ) the Vets will also go on with their lives. Really....No big deal.

YOU lost the war? I didn't realise you were the only one fighting in that war. "WE" lost the war? Now it is the American people who lost the war? It helps if you stick to one subject. I do not think anyone is blaming you or the American people for "losing" the war in Vietnam. Since it is no big deal, then you too have surely gotten over this period in your life. I have read many books by Vietnam Vets, and they too have gotten on with their lives and have written some fine books too. There's alway room for one more memoir, isn't there? Look again, American and Vietnamese are doing business as usual, and the dominoes are no longer on the playing board, are they??
p.s. I would like to see patois humping over a few rice paddies under fire too...

You probably do suffer from PTSD.

It was all a lie anyway. You never should have been sent to Nam and you know that now. If it wasn't apparent right away then it should have been after the Charlie Company My Lai Massacre fiasco.

You can't lose a war that never should've happened in the first place.

If the war still occupies this much of your time then you should seek counseling through veterans affairs. It still bothers my dad who spent 2 years there but it doesn't consume him.

So you personally lost the war in Vietnam, eh?

That would explain a lot about why you turned into such a bitter old man.

Actually, you sound pretty crazy to me. To shrug your shoulders about a war or its effects on the soldiers fighting it with a flippant "no big deal", is not exactly what it takes to be a real American or to protect freedom. To be disturbed by this war is healthy. NOT to be disturbed by this war, or any war, is morbid. No real soldier shrugs his shoulders and says "No big deal" after being in a war. Are you and J.S. real sure you were even in the service?
