Mine was the 1st time I ever cooked Banoffi Pie. Discovered that I over- cooked the 'offi' too much. Made great toffee, but not the best dessert when some of the dinner guests turned out to be wearing false teeth!

Mine wasn't so much a meal as it was a side dish. I made potato rosti one night. I wasn't paying attention for some reason, and instead of adding 1 tsp of salt like the recipe said, I used one tablespoon. It was awful. I was so angry--I went through all that work for nothing!! It was so salty nobody could eat it.

At the restaurant I always put the prime rib in the night before to roast. Always came out great. So one day I walked in, started doing other things, then went to check on the meat. I FORGOT TO TURN THE OVEN ON THE NIGHT BEFORE! So I panicked, threw the meat out, and tried to roast another one, only 3 hours before opening.

It was horrible! It was still raw and looked like liver. It was hard having to explain to the customers why we had no prime rib. Oh that was a mess.

I've never ruined a meal - yet (knocking on wood once I typed that...lol), but I did ruin desserts. I was given a recipe for a "No fail cake". And it failed. lol. Even the dog gagged when I tried to give him a bite. That's pathetic...lol. I've since stuck with things I know how to make.

I baked some scones. They were terrible, hard, and did not rise. I could not understand why until I looked at the sell by date on the flour.......3 years out of date. I am still living though.

I didn't prepare this myself but my mother in law cooked breakfast for her new husband on the morning after their honeymoon night. She decided to cook him pancakes and wasn't too familiar with cooking but wanted to impress him. She deep fried those suckers !! This was back in the days when lard was used. To give my father in law his due, he ate every bite and told her that was the best breakfast he ever had. It must have been love is all I can say.
