If I was God and needed a watch I would also choose the Swiss.
But since every race and every nation has some distinguishing and outstanding characteristic I will choose *this time* the whole *humanity* as my chosen people.

To me this question seems to be tied in with humans favoring a certain culture...color of skin...etc. All that is nonsense and silly to me.
To make the same statement of asking what " chosen " people might God choose is of the same line of thought that people of silly minds make.
My reply . . . Just as a parent loves all their children...yet might be frustrated with the behavior of a certain child (or two)...That parent still loves each of their children . . . frustrations, joys and all.
We are ' children ' of ( God ) the One . . . all are loved and are the united ' chosen ' of the One.
Chose a certain people ? . . . Beings. Chose a " place " ? . . . Beings of universe.
And as far as the Swiss that you mentioned . . . I do like Swiss cheese.
Peace to you.

If I were God and the Creator of everyone and everything, I would chose all my creations. They would be my responsibility.
The Swiss are lovely but not more so than the rest.

In reality, I think I'd take all people as my chosen people. I could stop a lot of in-fighting that way. But in this theoretical situation, I'd have to be loyal to my own kind and go with the Italians. And why not? We're good cooks, good lovers, and in many cases, really into our religion.

...well, if it were me, I'd have to start with people who didn't hurt one another in any way, 'cause I hate to see people crying, and broken babies, you know, like that... I guess there is nothing sadder than that...and I guess I'd want people who wanted to protect my creation, after all, I made it, and I love creating things...it would be redundant to have people there who had no regard for it whatsoever...I guess it would be ridiculous and childish to say everybody, 'cause that would mean innocents might become victims, yet again...well, I guess it would have to be people who accepted my standards...but, then, my standards would have to be perfect...which is why I am not Jehovah...

If I am GOD and want to CHOOSE some selected few from others then I won't be called GOD. Because, GOD (as the definition goes from Bible, Quran and Gita) sees everyone as equal and HE is totally UNBIASED. It's a good question you posed though.

in reality the chosen people, peoples would be the sick children and people born with disabilities. the fact of their purity is almost unquestionable and the amount of love and devotion to their parents, carers would signify the closeness of pure love which is exhuded.
it is nothing to do with race.
by chosing a race there is, in itself the stem of racism and biased attitudes.

Chosen people? I truly do not believe God had/has chosen people. He created all souls, and I don't believe any are chosen or favorites. Apologies to those that might offend. (It is not intended to offend, it's just what makes logical sense to me.)

God is fair to his dealings with His creatures.. Nobody could take the place of God. do not imagine that you will be God. Nobody of us is better than God.
