Im looking for anything symbolic to represent the emotions of being independent, and anything related. Think as if you've come to the realization that you really only need to depend on yourself to survive?

By the way, this isn't an emo or longer type of thing..im just asking because i'm interested in what others believe is individuality and independence.

How bout a nike swoosh?
Really - any symbol that you come up for that can only have meaning for you. If somebody else suggests it then it doesn't represent what you are asking for, and five years from now it will be on all the clothes at Abercrombie.

I'm not sure why but I'm assuming you're looking for a tattoo or something like that. So I'm thinking of visuals.. hope it helps.

A snowflake... no two are alike.

A soaring bird of prey.

A barcode. (added benefit of being ironic)

A fingerprint.

A single bold star.

An enclosed figure (picture an elastic band twisted into itself in a unique shape (individuality) yet is complete onto itself (independence)

Something you create.

Broken shackles.

Hope I've given you some ideas or at the very least helped spark some ideas of your own.

at first i thought this was sarcastic, like "loners unite" or something. By definition, individuality is nearly impossible to symbolize.

traditionally, birds seem to fit. Maybe the humanist symbol. the more i think, the more interested i am. that is tough, but it seems like it should be done.

Well, pansies are supposed to represent "free thought" and have been a symbol for Atheism in the past.
