Learn more about Wicca, which is not the same thing as witchcraft (witchcraft is a technique, Wicca is one of the religions that uses the technique of witchcraft).
A relatively objective (non-Wiccan) set of articles on what Wiccans do and believe:
http://www.religioustolerance.org/witchcra.htm
Another useful article:
http://www.religionfacts.com/neopaganism/paths/wicca.htm
A good site by Wiccans:
http://wicca.timerift.net
And the US Army Chaplains Handbook excerpt on Wicca:

If you're looking to do some reading, I'd recommend "Wicca: A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner" by Scott Cunningham, and "The Triumph of the Moon" by Ronald Hutton. I advise you to stay away from anything by Silver Ravenwolf, for reasons outlined in the following essay:
http://wicca.timerift.net/ravenwolf.shtml
As for love spells... fooling around with someone else's free will is only going to land you in hot water. Best not to do it. (Assuming you're even serious in making the request...)

First I have a couple of questions for you to really ponder.
1. Why do you want to practice witchcraft?
2. What lead you to this path?
3. What do you expect to gain from it?
If your answer to ANY of these questions is "power", forget it.
READ!!! Find out which denomination you would prefer. You may find your answer in, Buckland's Complete Book of Witchcraft.
I would not bother with any type of initiation or gathering of ritual tools until you find which path you are going to follow. If you decide that this is the path for you. of tools, but then, I have been practicing for a very long time. My particular path essentially needs only a Staff, Dirk (athame) and a Keek-Stane (or crystal ball). Other tools can be acquired as needed.
I am Pecti-Witan (aka Hedge Witch, not Wiccan) a "solitary" practitioner of "the Old Religion", and have been for many, many years. Being a "Witch" is nothing like what is portrayed in movies or on Television. There is nothing flashy about it. we are fairly simple people with "abilities" that everyone has, ours are just honed and utilized. Lots of research and practice. There is a lot to learn when you are dealing with herbal, mineral and candle magick.
I read tarot cards, rune stones and utilize a number of other tools for divination but would NEVER charge anyone for anything I do! Besides, I do not do "readings" or "cast spells" for others on demand. That sounds more like a con game to me!
Now as for what I did to start, well, it seemed to come naturally to me, (my mother was a witch and my great grandmother was the daughter of a Comanche medicine man) and I believe this is not my first life (nor the last) as a witch. I have always had a deep respect for nature and have an innate ability to communicate with animals. When I was very young my parents encouraged me to learn about all religions, so I did. And I encourage you to do the same to find your true path. Books are an excellent source, providing you get the right ones, there are some I would avoid (Ravenwolf). I prefer Scott Cunningham. If you can connect with other practitioners that would also be a good way to learn. One question you must ask yourself is are you looking for the structured system of a Coven or would you prefer the life as a "Solitary"? Buckland has some very good books outlining both. But my favorite book is still "Wicca, a Guide for the Solitary Practitoner". It is a good place to start (or affirm).
As you have probably noticed, you also have to have a thick skin, because even in this "advanced" civilization there are still those who believe we worship the devil (LMAO), and would rather turn a blind eye to the world around them. Some will even admit that they think we should be burned at the stake! Ignorance knows no bounds.
Love spells can and do work IF the person casting the spell knows what they are doing. But any witch will tell you that love spells are not to be messed with because you would be affecting the will of another and we do not and will not do that.
If you are very young, expect ridicule and really stupid requests to do "Magic" like they do on TV or in movies. It is not going to make you cool. Expect people to tell you that you are going to Hell. You will probably lose friends. Just being honest with you.
I hope you find the answers you were looking for.

A witch does not have natural powers but draws on the power of Nature. Just because you feel an emotional surge when speaking about Witchcraft or Wicca means nothing more than that you have a special interest or preoccupation with the subject. I suggest you do much more research on both subjects before applying a label on yourself. For instance, had you already done this research you would understand that any spell that interferes with one's free will (such is a love spell) is highly unethical and against the Wiccan Rede. My advice: read as much as you can on the subjects, as well as other religions THEN search your heart to find within yourself your true beliefs.
Brightest Blessings

I'm sorry hun but we don't have "powers". We don't fly on brooms, we don't move things with out minds or freeze time. We're just as normal as everyone else, we just worship different deities than other people. Being a witch means loving all life and being connected with the energies of nature and the universe. I wish we had powers haha trust me.
And as for the love spell. No real practicing witch with any respect for their craft will give you one. Love spells are dangerous, you can't interfere with a person's free will. You might just be trying to get the attention of the person you have a little crush on but end up with a violent stalker.

There are no such things as witches. The Wiccan religion was founded 50 something years ago by a British civil servant as a sarcastic joke in protest of England overturning the Witchcraft Act. It is kept alive by teenage girls and geeky boys who need a safer form of rebellion.

I took my troubles down to Madame Rue
You know that gypsy with the gold-capped tooth
She's got a pad down on Thirty-Fourth and Vine
Sellin' little bottles of Love Potion Number Nine
I told her that I was a flop with chics
I've been this way since 1956
She looked at my palm and she made a magic sign
She said "What you need is Love Potion Number Nine"
She bent down and turned around and gave me a wink
She said "I'm gonna make it up right here in the sink"
It smelled like turpentine, it looked like Indian ink
I held my nose, I closed my eyes, I took a drink
I didn't know if it was day or night
I started kissin' everything in sight
But when I kissed a cop down on Thirty-Fourth and Vine
He broke my little bottle of Love Potion Number Nine

These are some great ways to figure out if you're really a witch or not (tried and true methods of the U.S. legal system):

I'm going to tell you a little secret, that's probably going to irritate some of my Christan brothers and sisters. No, your not a witch. Do you wanna know why? It's because there's no such fuckin thing!
When I see an ugly old lady fly over my head on a broom, or some one turns me into a newt, then I might believe in witches, until that happens it's just pretentious bullshit.

Yep, you certainly are confused. You are no witch, and they have no powers.
Let me tell you a real-life story:
A guy in my neighborhood was a "wiccan high priest". He wanted to date my daughter, so he came to my house and asked me to denounce God. I told him where to go, of course.
He was so angry, and yelled at me that he was placing a spell on me that would not only force me to denounce God, but that also would cause me great harm and upset in my life.
About a week later, I went to a restaurant with some co-workers, and lo and behold -
there was the wiccan guy:
He started to come across the restaurant towards me waiving his finger, and I don't know exactly what he was saying, but....
Nobody knows what he could possibly have tripped on, but down he went, and he broke his wrist, forearm and elbow - and one rib.
And me? Well, its fifteen years later and I still await the horrors of that spell....
Moral of this true story:
Its bullshit, honey. Even if they had some actual powers, do you honestly think they would be of any affect on one of Gods children? Ha! Any power falls like a house of paper at the wave of Gods hand.
Do yourself a favor, and don't destroy yourself for the sake of something stupid.
