find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
dont try to lose more than 1-2lbs a week - its not healthy to lose more.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried - no junk food.

I hope this helps.
Eating:
Lean Proteins, lots of vegetables, a few fruits, and if you eat carbs make sure it is whole wheat.
Try eating 5 smaller meals each day. It will keep your metabolism high.
Exercise Cardio:
Start off walking 30 minutes each day. Up it to 45 minutes the 2nd week, and up to 1 hour by the 3rd week.
You can even throw in some jumping jacks and jump roping.
Exercise Weight and Strength Training:
Get 5 lb hand weights and start doing some curls and arm extensions. For your legs, do lungs and squats. You may even want to get an exercise band. They usually come with some really easy but effective exercises.
Good luck. Just remember that muscle weighs more than fat so you may not see the difference on the scale at first but you should see a difference in your clothing size.

I've tried many diets and couldn't make anything work. Since having my first child, I've been carrying around an extra 30 pounds. This diet just made sense and showed me that everything I was doing before was wrong and a waste of my time.
The plan was so refreshing and so simple to follow. I did everything plan said and lost 23 pounds in the first three weeks. I'm now starting the diet again to lose 7 more pounds. This plan has changed my life.
Get started today!

Relatively simple is to walk for 30 minutes a day at a normal pace.
Also, make sure you drink enough water (1.5 to 2 liters a day).
If you feel you are getting hungry, eat a carrot or a cucumber before dinner, so you don`t need/take seconds (your body will give the signal "i`m full" sooner that way)

I read a lot about nutrition, and from what I can tell, there are three ingredients that great for weight loss.
Fiber
Protein
Calcium
So what I do is try to include those ingredients in all of my meals. Fruits and veggies are great sources of fiber, lean cuts of meat, skim milk, eggs, lowfat cheese, lowfat yogurt are good sources of protein, and the cheese, milk, and yogurt have plenty of calium.
Carbs tend to scare people nowadays, but they really arent bad for you in moderation. The key to making them better for you is to buy whole-wheat varieties of breads and pastas (which are also great sources of fiber).
what you drink is just as important as what you eat. regular sodas pack on pounds, so if your an addict (like myself), drink diet. Crystal Light is great if you dont like drinking water that much (very low in calories). fruit juice is great, just make sure its 100% juice (no juice cocktails, theyre all sugar)
Not a chef? i buy a lot of pre-packaged dinners and soups. If i dont spend my money on junk, i can afford the healthier options.
dont like veggies or fruits? i have a juicer, and am getting my 2 1/2 cups of veggies a day now. the taste isnt great, but it can be disguised with some fruit juice of choice.
another tip: dont eat in front of the tv (or the computer)! by focusing on something other than your food, you drastically increase the possibility of eating too much. eating without distractions means itll be easier to notice when your full.
as for exercise, you can buy workout tapes. my personal faves are Tae Bo (no equipment) and Pilates (helps posture and makes you strong)
