First, an expected family contribution of 0 is a good thing in terms of getting financial aid. Second, has the school accepted you yet? You can apply to the school before you get your GED (almost all students apply to college before they graduate). Keep in mind that fafsa will have little to no influence over your chance of being accepted. It only influences and helps the government calculate financial aid. You will not find out possible financial aid from the school until you have been accepted...

You can't receive award from a school you have not applied to. You can apply to the school in anticipation of receiving your GED, but will not be able to begin classes untill you have completed it. Only after acceptance does a school evaluate you for financial aid purposes. However, you should do rather well in the aid department, (as far as grants and low-interest loans go, you could also apply for need-based scholarships) because you have no expected family contribution. Good luck :)

An EFC score of 0 is excellent which means you will qualify for the full amount of Pell Grants for the 2007-2008 school year depending on the number of credits you have taken. I recommend talking to the community college's admissions office staff to see what you should do next.
