The vehicle itself has 85 thousand miles and the new motor has around 1 thousand miles that is what I was told, it looks nice the inside and the outside, its electric, leather seats and stuff like that.

I would be suspicious because Jeep engines are not usually replaced at 85000 miles - sounds like bad maintenance to me. I have a 98 GC with over 120000 miles with no engine or transmission problems yet. If you are stuck on this Jeep, have a mechanic check it out. Good Luck!

This Jeep probably has the 318 V8 (8th digit of VIN is a Y), it's OK that there is a new motor in this Jeep, but when you drive pay attention to both the rear and front ends for noise. Jeeps have Dana axles and they are famous for being noisy and needing to be rebuilt. Just turn the radio down and listen while driving, it should be quiet. If you hear a roaring noise, look at another car...quick!!

How many miles are on it? What caused the engine to give out? When you test drive it make sure that you put it into 4wheel drive to make sure that the transfer case is functioning properly. Check all the fluids to make sure that they look clean. You just don't want to buy something that has been beat and someone is just throwing a motor into it just to get rid of it. Look around because you could probably buy that same Jeep with some extra modifications ie(lift, tires, etc) for around the same price you are thinking of spending on this one. Just be careful.

Seriously if you want a Jeep Grand Cherokee get one with the 4.0L Inline 6 engine. Theyre great on gas mileage. The V8's on the other hand are gas guzzlers.

Depending upon what town you live in, I would try to find a company that can really do an inspection of the truck for you, including a compression test on the engine. Look for damaged or worn u joints front and rear. Have your inspector check for water in the transfer case and rear ends. Do you smell ANYTHING that is a musty smell,,could be water damage. Those engines do not fail by themselves at such lower mileage for no reason.
Good Luck

No, just search it out on the web and you will find that there are many people that at this point just want to give their Grand Cherokees away.

I have repaired so many that I can not count, from windows, gas mileage, fuel pumps, leaks and don't forget the biggest problem, the a/c will start leaking on the passengers side floor board, very difficult to fix.
