if they haven't taken impressions, he can't get immediate dentures, but they can take impressions tomorrow(before the extractions they only take a few minutes to do) and have them for him in a couple of weeks, good luck

I have had a few pulled, and the shot might give a sharp pinch at first and then that is it! Pressure is all you will feel. Count to 5 and you are done! You probably won't have much pain following, but take a tylenol or something an hour before, and take one @ 4 hrs after (I have done this, it works!) He may give something stronger, but only use it as a last resort! He will give specific follow up directions........do exactly what he says!!!!! You will be just fine : )

He needs to wait for the swelling to go down first, otherwise his dentures wont fit. He'll probably need some adjustments anyway.

If your dentist says it's ok, try giving him some warm ginger tea to swish around the next day - that will help it heal (not gingerale - that has sugar in it).

They took impressions of my teeth and did not pull them until my partial was ready to put in.

Good luck to your husband. Be ready to feed him a lot of soup because it will be a while before he can comfortably chew again.

I know someone who went and had all his upper teeth removed and came home the same day with new teeth in his mouth.
