I love KEF or B&W and the KEF reference and B&W 800 series are very well regarded, but the best I agree with the others is Wilson Alexandria, Dynaudio Evidence Master, Revel Salon2, Magico Model 6 or Salk Veracity HT3 and would be first my choices to check out in ultra high end speakers...

I have not listened to some of the speakers (such as Wilson Audio's) that audiophiles are supposed to say are the best. This is partly because these are sold in audio boutiques that see serious customers by appointment and I don't have the money to be a serious customer for speakers that cost as much as a decent house in the Midwest. Some speakers I have heard that I have been impressed with include Meridian, Martin Logan, Monitor Audio's gold series, and the old NHT 3.3's (no longer made). I am very partial, however, to the smooth sound of M&K's higher end speakers.

HI mate. I seem to remember you asking something similar two weeks ago .As you know everyone thinks their speakers are the best otherwise they would not be listening to them. They all add coloration to the sound in varying degrees.I will agree with you on one thing and that is loudspeakers made in Great Britain generally have the most neutral sound and are happy with all types of music. Back in 1984 i was looking for new speakers to replace the ones i was using (Telefunken L645's).
I made a list of about a dozen brands to audition.Back in those days there were not as many brands as there are to-day.
Anyway i can't remember all the ones i had in mind .but i remember Acoustic Research JBL. Advent. Tannoy .Warfedale.Polk.
I was passing an audio shop during my lunch hour at work when i heard the most fantastic sound .So i went in and asked the guy what speakers are doing that and he pointed to a pair of small bookshelf speakers. I could not believe the sound i heard .I asked him who makes those and he said Rogers from England. Which i was not familiar with. I new i had to have them and i've still got them 'cause i haven't heard anything better to date.

Sorry for the long story dddd but i thought you might be interested. Cheers.

Depending on what I'm listening to I like the following:

Music: Martin Logan Accents

Rock Music: Klipsh

Movies: DEF tech and sunfire subs

You have to remember that speakers are a very subjective experience. Different people will hear things differently. Your question begs to proclaim yours are the best. If you are unsure about the purchase you may have just made, don't settle until you are happy. Happy listening

I love the sound of McIntosh speakers, they are smooth responsive and produce some of the most crystal clear sound I have ever heard, not to mention they allow for incredible spacial acoustics. When driven by McIntosh amplifiers, there is nothing that sounds better to me. However, to get one of the best setups from them, you could be looking at $100,000 easy for speakers and amps.
