It appears that a sizeable percentage of the population just needs to believe. They are either not bright enough or rational enough to sufficiently understand the science necessary to see the complexity in the world as anything less than 'magic'.

Why would god have created sheep- if he did not want them to be sheared?

I assume from your question you are an atheist and do not believe there is a supreme being. You also probably believe that the world would be a better place if the entire human race would stop believing in the existence of a supreme being. There are Muslims vs Christians, Irish Protestants vs Irish Catholics the Inquisition, etc.

Well what about Bush haters vs Bush supporters. What about Democrats vs Republicans. These non religious groups often engender as much hatred and fanaticism as the religious groups. So do you really think that if we stopped believing suddenly all people would put aside their differences and the world would be at peace?

There are many miracles that happen. Many people have seen images of spiritual forces. There is a numerology associated with the bible that defies logic. The fact of creation itself is unexplainable. My religion (Judaism) believes that people have free will given to them by G-d. Much of the evil of the world is orchestrated by people and not G-d.

Now you might say I still don't believe in G-d and if we could somehow repress religion it would just go away. At the eve of the October 1917 bolshevik Revolution my Great great Grandmother gave up on religion. Her bitterness over the loss of her husband made her believe that g-d was a myth and she decided that true salvation was in the people overturning the old ways. Earlier in 1916 she was a young girl who was asked to marry a soldier by her rabbi and parents who was leaving for the Front. She met him and immediately fell in love with him. They had a hurried wedding and that night he consummated their marriage. She became pregnant and had two twin boys. She never saw her husband again. One of those boys ultimately became my great grandfather. Even though she became an athiest and no longer practiced her religion, Stalin still considered her a Jew. In the 1930s she died on the way to Siberia.

The Soviet Union lasted until 1990. The generation alive in 1990 was not the same as the generation alive when the old regime fell to be replaced by an athiest ideology that actively surpressed all religions. After 1990 all the old religions suddenly returned with a vigor that is miraculous. Today in Russia synogages are being built, and the Orthodox movement is bring back to Judaism people who before knew they were Jewish because of what their internal passport said.

Mankind will never find the cure for religion because we are created by a just G-d who wants us to study and learn the light of his Torah. When that happens than Moshiah (the Messiah) will come and war and hatred will end.

Actually religion fills many peoples need to socialize, to meet new people and to sing. That it has decayed into a contest of wills is because no one is willing to suggest that no God cares for people if the God is as intelligent as people suggest. Jesus even suggests that loving others is our task rewarded with Heaven, yet the hateful seek to deny they need to love or help others because thats Gods job. A medicine that would cure the refusal of accepting responsibility and smother the ability to hate others would be appreciated by all except the control freaks. I believe that LSD was created to confuse the enemy but proved to be too unstable, it actually made many enjoy themseves. Not a plausible military objective. Perhaps then an expansion of certain parts of that drug are worth revisiting. Anybody know a research chemist?

It comes from various aspects of the bible, such because of fact the marking of Cain in Genesis, and likewise pestilence being a uncomplicated punishment for sinners. As for the youngsters, interior the story of Jesus curing the blind guy (i won't have the ability to bear in ideas which e book it incredibly is, apologies), it incredibly is declared the guy grew to become into blind for his mom and father' sins. i think of that's undesirable that everybody is so base as to have confidence disease is a punishment for in simple terms the sinners, because of fact disease has no bias. in my opinion, i think of human beings declare that's for a sin so as that they might experience justified of their biases and hatred to others, to boot as making themselves experience greater helpful. additionally that when the guy turns into greater helpful that's via the grace of God they have been stored and then proceed to evangelise how merciful their God is. Hypocrites, the lot of them.

Religion is not the disease, it is the men that twist it, pull it, manipulate it, not for the sake of God, but for their own sick and twisted ways. The evil kept in the heart of man is the true disease. God is love, as Jesus said. God is truth, and the light. Search for knowledge high, it is all contained in God's eyes. Peace be with you.

Nope,

Religion is man's way of justifying himself to "god".

The only cure for "religion", as well as all other self-promoting "works"; is to stand on THE ROCK (1 COR.10:4).

Good thing you aren't a psychologist like me to give everyone a ticket to Social Security disability benefits. Think of it if we didn't have "religions" taking up the slack on all these you deem insane. You and every non-believer would have to work double shift just to pay the taxes to support all of US......

Probably when those who claim to despise it stop obsessing about it so much.

Much like those who once spoke of a "cure" for being of an inferior race or non-traditional sexual orientation, those that decry the evils of religion often exhibit all of the blind intolerance they falsely claim to transcend.
