You can paint it, but it's not advisable, it's open grain, and unfinished so there is a chance of splinters, etc. It might be just as easy to put down the self adhesive flooring.

Yes you definately can,
but first try to sand the floor, so as to make it even and take out any chip of wood that may stick the bottom of ur foot.
For example home depot has two types of stuff you could use, one is stains, which would show the wood grains and you would not need a primer for this, cos you want the stain to penetrate, and make it look like hardwood floors.
The other is using their floor paints, which comes in various colors and are durable, and for this i would recomend a primer so as to give and even and beautiful finish. Both of them range btw $20-$25 for a gallon, which covers about 250-400 square foot of space.

Sure you can. The wood will soak up some, so you'll probably have to apply 2 or 3 coats. I don't know how durable this is to walk on, but it's an inexpensive way to get by. I see them paint wood floors all the time on decorating shows.

ply woods are treated at the manufacturer. and are quite dimensionally sound, so they dont shrink or swell much with changing moisture levels. Painting will do nothing to change this, it's perfectly fine. the only thing that may be unappealing could be the texture, but a quick sanding should take care of splinters or offset joints. with plywoods though, you need to be sure of knot holes unless you have a good quality. then once again there should be no problem.

this will not make a good floor alone!! that is the only thing between you and the outside temperatures!! it would be best to put another layer of some sort down,, even another sheet of plywood!! however you should put some king of flooring down!! and if it is pressed wood you take the chance of it swelling and rotting through if liquid is spilled on it!!

I don't know if it matters wheter it is a mobile home or not... but we pulled up our carpets to put down wood and I used Kilz on the (cheap, thin nasty) chipboard that was down. Then we put down plywood and I painted with another coat of Kilz... then we put down the hardwoods (which I did not paint...:)))

You should put a primer on it before you paint.

you can use a primer like kills or zinnser and i know at menards where i work they can tint the primer certain colors. you if your animals have peed and it smells, you can buy the primer that is use for eliminating, i know zinnser has one for that and tint it what color you want. :)
