La famiglia Rossi in estate passa da due a tre mesi in campagna. Il signor Carlo non puo allontanarsi dalla citta per molto tempo, perche ha l'ufficio ed ha soltanto un mese di vacanza, ma tutta la famiglia, appena comincia il caldo, si trasferisce nella grande casa di campagna, che e una specie di fattoria bene attrezzata. Il cortile e ampo e gli animali vivono tranquillamente in questo loro regno. Ci sono i conigli e le galline, le oche, i maiali, le vacche e le pecore con vitellini e agnellini; ci sono anche cani e gatti e non mancano i pavoni che spesso aprono la coda a ventaglio con colori meravigliosi. Questo e veramente un ambiente di pace e di tranquittita.
