I mean, the Christians think they have a valid reason behind terrorizing their children with ghastly images of Christ’s crucifixion, but why not mention a few other methods? It won’t hurt too much, will it?

Well, there's a few mentioned in the Bible, so I suppose it would be OK to tell the kids about ripping open pregnant women, throwing women off walls, stoning, etc. The Bible does not have an R rating.

Let's explore. If you are not a Christian, Why do you care? I grew up as a Christian, and I never felt terrorized by the image of christ on the cross. Just a bit sorrowful. So if you are concerned for the well-being of children, maybe you should worry more about the ghastly ways to kill and die, and all the graphic violence on your X-box.
You have either had Christianity shoved down your throat, Lost someone important and blame God, or you somehow feel you don't measure up to the higher standards Christians strive to attain. You may say you don't WANT to, but deep down, you know that most of the people that the world truly respects live up to those higher standards, Christian or not.

There is no reason for your question other than to lash out at Christians, and no reason for you to lash out, unless you feel threatened by us and our beliefs.

Sh!t happens. Many people go through life thinking nobody cares. God cares, and he is just waiting for even the worst sinners to repent, and just let him in. Don't believe me? Just try it sometime. Lie down at night, look up at the stars, and let God know YOU care.

to some degree you are correct. there isn't much difference between telling of two different gruesome ways to kill a man. however, most christians aren't giving the details of Christ's death to terrorize them but to help them understand the pain that Jesus went through. It was because of that pain and sacrifice that we are saved. It's the foundation of Christianity.

I empathize with your question and would agree with you if it was some scare tactic to get children to obey, but it isn't supposed to be.

Actually, the method of Christ's death is immaterial. Even the fact that he died is immaterial when it comes right down to it. The important part of the death of Christ is the resurrection of Christ. After all, if you think about it, what good would it do if Christ died and stayed dead? How would that give the promise of eternal life for believers? If God could not raise his only Son, how could we ever expect to be made eternal after our natural death.

Christ's method of death was nothing new in those times. Many died in the same way...including some of Christ's diciples.

I didn't watch that awful movie put out a few years ago about his crucifixion. And I am a Catholic. I'm an adult and didn't want to watch it. I sure would not let my kids watch it. We don't even watch horror movies.

They've told that story so many times that people forget what it really was. A criminal being executed.
