Try the once a month Frontline. It works very well and quickly, too. Some people recommend bombing your house but if you vaccuum often (every day) it will cause the fleas that don't get sucked up to hatch. When they hatch, they will jump on your cat looking for a meal and the Frontline will take care of them. You'll need to do this for a few months to get rid of all the fleas in your home. Be sure to wash the bedding that your cat sleeps on often and vaccuum your furniture. If fleas are a problem every year, start using flea control as soon as the weather starts to turn warm. This should help prevent them from coming inside.
Don't worry about becoming infested yourself. I know its totally gross that a flea just jumped at you, but our body temp is lower than cats and dogs and I guess we just don't taste as good. They may bite you, but they won't stay long.
Good Luck!!

I don't like flea sprays anyway, especially for using around kitties.

You're going to have to take a two-fold approach to dealing with the problem: Treat the cat AND treat your carpet.

Take your kitty to the vet or a groomer and have her dipped, then get Front Line or a similar flea-repelling product. Then either board your kitty or close her in a flea-free room while you treat the rest of the house. Bathrooms are usually good.

Get borax and sprinkle that on your carpet and soft furniture, and let it sit about 20 minutes or so. Then vacuum it up, and keep vacuuming every day for at least 2 weeks to make sure you get all the fleas and flea eggs. For your yard- which I'm sure you have more fleas hiding in- you'll probably want to talk to a professional exterminator. But if you garden, consider planting lots of aromatic herbs: There are a lot of them that insect pests such as fleas don't like.

Good luck!

I would take the cat to the vet to get a once a month flea treatment. The treatment is a little drop that goes in between the cats shoulder blades and is worked into the skin by the cat moving around and grooming itself.

Also it would be a good idea to get a one time flea bath just to control the little buggers before you start the flea treatment.

Please do not use Hertz, it has been implicated in hundreds of cat deaths over the years. Some cats aren't affected, but many are.

I agree with Frontline. The vat carries three once a month flea inhibitors that I know of. Frontline, Advantage and Revolution. You only put these on once a month. They break the flea cycle. Meaning that when the fleas lay eggs and they hatch, they cannot make more fleas. It takes a little while, but will eventually control the flea population around the area. You must treat every 30 days. If you stop, they will come back, because she is in and out. if she were an inside cat only, it might be easier to control fleas faster.

the first thing you do is get the fleas off and away from you cat for good flea collars fleas shampoos then get some carpet flea powder it works the best but the main thing is to keep the cat flea free then you won't have to worry

Revolution Flea/Heartworm, they can be bought at supermarkets in the pet section or at the vet/pet shops. Each box contains either 3 or 6 ampoules, and you just take off the lid separate the animal's fur on top of their head and squeeze out all the liquid, repeat this every month. It's not cheap but the control of fleas is excellent!

Flea dip cat, over kill on vacuuming and I mean even the drapes, fog house, spray carpet and anything they live on. Hope you can still enjoy your pet after all that two or three times a year or in my case more.

You can not fairly eliminate it. But i could begin with discovering a brand new pastime. And give up writing such a lot at the pc. Do physical games together with your peers. Set a target for your self to just keep at the pc for 2 hours then diminish each month. It might prevent a couple of greenbacks at the electrical invoice!!! ;). Basically discover some thing else to do, for those who can not seem at what films are approaching, what parties that sound kinda cool. Be in the market as an alternative of within right here.

There is actually differnt kinds of flea powder that you can sprinkle on your carpet and let it sit then vaccum up. There are alot of differnt brands, you can buy them at Petsmart, Etc. and I would also get a flea shampoo or powder for your kitty.
Good Luck!

To prevent your cat from getting fleas again and again, try keeping it inside. If you feel like getting your arms torn off, you can give it a flea bath... ;)
