It could have been. A lot of those old religions were being revived during the counterculture. For squirrillism the big opportunity for a come-back was the late 60's and especially the 70's,like wicca & paganism and prewar atheism. Not that any of those folks have hit the Big Time. Anyway,no,I think a post-nihilist rejectionism is not altogether inapplicable, particular if you cross -reference the squirrillist dilemna of the 11th century with contemporary retrofactionalism as exemplified by Harron's attempt to redefine demonology in terms of the consumerist culture; still, vestiges of the squirrilist weltanschuang do persist, particularly in postmodern subtexts of Wannabeism, which of course continues to thrive in small pockets around the world, although that is of course without benefit of a website,as is normally expected for a Comeback religion.

horde, horde, horde, hide and then run out to cause accidents and reek havoc (squirrels love to destroy phone and cable lines). Nope not the cornerstone of morality. However it does seem to be the cornerstone of human behavior.

I'm sorry, I'm a Chipmunkist. You are a rodent infidel. Prepare to meet your maker. Run up that phone pole and bite into the big black wire at the very top.

Of course! Leaping after other squirrels amongst the trees...joyful, lighthearted, a pouch full of munchies... it's perfect!
