Well think about it our hair turns grey when we get old how come theirs doesn't?

I think it does. My boyfriend has 2 golden labs with long hair, and their like.. 15 years old. They are starting to turn grey. They look soo funny! It might just depend on the dog.

I have seen old dogs get grey hair but since yours is only one year old I'd say it is a genetic thing. Perhaps one or even both of the parents have similar coloring that appeared at that age.

have you ever seen a old dog? i don't think so cause then you would know that their hair does turn grey !

normally on dogs their muzzle hair..turns grey and white..cats im not sure about..but i know weiner dogs and beagles..especially darker muzzled dogs..you can really tell

My old black cat, Chippie, has a few gray hairs on his black coat. He's not all gray, but he's definitely got some gray now. He used to be solid black.
