If you live in an apartment, I hope you have renters insurance. If you have a house, check your insurance policy. You have already proceeded criminally. Now you have to proceed in civil court. You can also attempt to put a lien against him, and possibly deduct some of the loss on your income tax. I think I covered it all. Just make sure you get professional help. Additional info.. You can not proceed criminally, and attempt to recover losses in the same court. It is either one, or the other.

File a suit with the police, make sure to take pictures of everything, and take him to court. Case closed. Although,

you shouldn't expect to get the total cost of everything back, you will get the "used" value of those items. So sadly, if he broke a 50 inch TV that you paid 3,000 dollars for, you're probably going to get 1,000 or less for it. It sucks, but that's the way it is.

If he is charged with mischief and convicted, he may be ordered to pay restitution to you for the damage. If not you will have to take him to civil court.

Do yourself a big favor and get him out of your life forever. Count the money as the cost of the education. He won't change, your tolerance of his actions can change.
