The Good News AKA the Gospel is stated succintly in 1 Corinthians 15:
"1 Let me now remind you, dear brothers and sisters, of the Good News I preached to you before. You welcomed it then, and you still stand firm in it. It is this Good News that saves you if you continue to believe the message I told you—unless, of course, you believed something that was never true in the first place.
3 I passed on to you what was most important and what had also been passed on to me. Christ died for our sins, just as the Scriptures said. 4 He was buried, and he was raised from the dead on the third day, just as the Scriptures said. 5 He was seen by Peter and then by the Twelve. 6 After that, he was seen by more than 500 of his followers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have died. 7 Then he was seen by James and later by all the apostles. 8 Last of all, as though I had been born at the wrong time, I also saw him." (NIV)
Paul also writes of it in Romans 1:
"16 For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes—the Jew first and also the Gentile.17 This Good News tells us how God makes us right in his sight. This is accomplished from start to finish by faith. As the Scriptures say, “It is through faith that a righteous person has life.”"

The good news is the Lord's Prayer is being fulfilled in our day. Remember the first thing, about God's name being praised? In most translations it is found in Psalms 83: 18. The second, may God' Kingdom come and His will be done on earth as it is in heaven. That time is near! What could be better news than that? Now we don't know the exact time like a train schedule, But when you hear a whistle blow, you know it is close. Even news just as good is our understanding of the Bible grows with time. It has been gradual, but if say a foot soldier from the Revolutionary War was shown what we accept as normal life, he would have to change his pants six times. The shock would be too great. A lot of knowledge over time would make it easier to handle.
So that is what the good news is.

It is the title of a surah(chapter) in the Qur'an, Chapter 78.
78:1 Concerning what are they disputing?
78:2 Concerning the Great News,[of resurrection]
78:3 on which they [so utterly] disagree.
78:4 Nay, but in time they will come to understand [it]!
78:5 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand!
The great news is resurrection, life after death. Many have disputed this, and this is something huge, a big great event that cannot be passed on. It is a promise that those who disagree will come to know about it, and then Allah Almighty describes the blessings that he has given the people and describes what will happen to the those who disagreed and disbelieved and those who believed.
A quick glimpse:
78:6 HAVE WE NOT made the earth a resting-place [for you],
78:7 and the mountains [its] pegs?
78:8 And We have created you in pairs;
78:9 and We have made your sleep [a symbol of] death
--------------
78:17 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false]
78:18 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes;
has indeed its appointed time:
-------------------------------------------------------
78:21 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] –
78:22 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right!
78:23 In it shall they remain for a long time.
78:24 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink –
-----------------------------
78:31 [But,] verily for the God-conscious there is supreme fulfilment in store:
78:32 luxuriant gardens and vinyards,
78:33 Companions of equal age;
78:34 And a cup full (to the brim).
78:35 No vanity shall they hear therein, nor Untruth:-
78:36 Recompense from thy Lord, a gift, (amply) sufficient,
----------------------------------------------------
78:39 That Day will be the sure Reality: Therefore, whoso will, let him take a (straight) return to his Lord!
78:40 Verily, We have warned you of a Penalty near, the Day when man will see (the deeds) which his hands have sent forth, and the Unbeliever will say, "Woe unto me! Would that I were (metre) dust!"

It is the idea that if you chant some magical words you won't burn in hell forever - one version of it anyway
It is the idea that jesus will come back to earth and go to war with all the nations of the world win and then rule for eternity binding Satan and then let him loose for a while (why I am not sure book of Revelations) Yet another version
That you can have the kingdom of god within you right now - an alternate version of the first one only this one emphasizes the idea of great peace now but personel relationship with a voice you will get to have and keep in your head

Actually, Jesus never said , "Good news", he said "Good Message". Only Paul, and those that follow Paul instead of Jesus, chose the term "Good news". In the original Bible text it was good plus "eis", Paul and some churches simply dropped the meaning "Good message" and substituted "Good news".
I am not splitting hairs. Jesus spent his entire life and death teaching us how to get along with each other and how to get to Heaven. That was his "message" to us. Paul came along and announced that what Jesus taught was unimportant, and that simply by Jesus' death do we get the "Good news".

Jesus Christ who suffered and died on the cross for the sin of man, has risen from the dead, bringing with him the hope that we can enter the kingdom of God.
