I think one of Satans best tools against religion is convincing mankind that he does not exist, i.e, that there is no Satan.
He does this by saying there is no God, thus there is no devil. When people believe this they suddenly lose all fear of eternity and our status in the next life, filling their minds and hearts with the idea to "eat, drink, and be merry."
Lets face it, a great way to get people to deny God/relgion is to deny Satan. If there is no evil, how can there be good?
Think about it. Imagine Satan telling someone, "There is no devil. There is no hell. There is no heaven or God. YOu are free. You can do what you want, whenever, and it doesn't matter."

Actually, one of Satan's best tools is religion.
Satan is a very religious person.
A personal relationship with the Living God through faith in Jesus Christ is the one thing Satan doesn't want people to discover.

Religion IS one of Satan's best tools. By using false religion to spread lies like hellfire and the old "God needed another angel" explanation when a child dies, he makes God look cruel, unloving. Through false teachings like the Trinity, he makes God too confusing for people to feel like they can form a personal relationship with him. Any by creating innumerable religions out there all saying something different, he's made it frustrating and difficult for people to find the true religion and gain God's approval.
2 Corinthians 4:3,4 says: "If, now, the good news we declare is in fact veiled, it is veiled among those who are perishing, among whom the god of this system of things has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, that the illumination of the glorious good news about the Christ, who is the image of God, might not shine through."
So while the truth about God and the purposes He has are there for people to learn, Satan has used false religion to 'veil' the truth from people, and make them so cynical they won't show faith in the truth when it shows itself to them.

Religion, because Satan doesn't battle against it, he uses it to keep people from truly seeking God and findin g salvation trough Jesus Christ. Religion is of man not God

To start with a basic truth and then pervert it just enough that people will follow it and think that they are following God.
