For the past couple of weeks I've been feeling really bad. Lately all I do is go to school and then come home and sleep. Days when I don't have to go to school all I do is lay in bed. I only come out of my bedrrom when I must, and I don't eat very much anymore. I don't know what's wrong with me. I just feel sad. I usually have a good relationship with family and friends, but now I avoid them because everything seems to make me feel even worse. I haven't talked to my parents about the way I feel. My mom thinks I sleep all day because I'm lazy, but I just have no will to get up and do things anymore.
I don't like talking with anyone about the way I feel, so how do I go about explaining this to my mom?
Please help me.

Nothing tragic has happened in my life, no tragic events or anything like that. I don't feel sick or achey, I just feel sad.
I'm sixteen years old, and this just started a couple of weeks ago, about two months.

by the symptoms you've mentioned.. it sounds a lot like clinical depression.. it's no laughing matter.. you need to see your doctor for some help. if you continue to isolate yourself from people and do nothing about your symptoms, it will get worse.. please see your doctor as soon as possible.

Hi
There is a depression checklist (which can be used as an indicator) you can find it on beyond blue. it sounds like you have some of the symptoms of depression. This checklist is a good guide to whether you may need medical intervention or counselling.
There are lots of things that you can do to help depression and its important that you see a doctor. Along side this you can make sure you stick to your routines (getting up at the same time) and hobbies, even if its hard, as it helps depression lift in the long run. Make sure you eat healthy foods and exercise.
Theres light at the end of the tunnel and the quicker you seek help they quicker you can get on with enjoying your life once more!

sounds serious. you should go see a doctor if you have no idea what the reason is. i would say go talk to a counselor but it seems like you have some chemical imbalance bc you can't pinpoint any life events that have been bothering you. a doctor (psychiatrist) will give you some medication that will help you feel better.

Explain it to your mom just the way you've explained it to us. Ask her if she thinks you should see the doctor. If you can't bring yourself to talk to her about it--write her a note--sometimes it is easier to write than to talk.

Even though you are certain that you aren't physically ill, you could have something like mono or anemia--so a doctor's visit would be in order. He or she can help whether this is a medical or mental health disorder.

Be better.

I have suffered from depression since I was 16 and I am now 31.... It sounds like you need to talk to your mom and maybe go to your doctor and see what he or she has to say. They know you better than anyone on here. But from what you are telling us,,, you might have it.

I think that you are depressed and should talk to your school counselor. You should find ways to put more joy in your life. That will help and make a difference.
