Yes there is that verse that says "whoever hates his brother is a murderer, and you all know that a murderer does not have eternal life in him," and "if you lust after a woman in your heart it is the same as committing adultery."
What is actually meant is that the thought leads to the words which lead to the deed. So the thought is the beginning of the sin, the seed of it.

God knows what is in your heart. It doesn't matter what you think, but how you react to it. If you think of killing someone, plan it out, and feel no remorse in doing so, then the fact that you did not do it is not really that comforting. If the reason you don't do it is simply because you don't want to risk jail, then you have a killer heart, and therefore thinking the thoughts are just as bad as the act.

Hey, we're all human, sometimes bad thoughts or desires to harm pop up in our minds as a way of venting. It's happened to me plenty of times. It's not as bad as acting them out. There may be a verse about this, but common logic should prevail that their not one in the same.

I have heard of it...can't remember where exactly...one of the Gospels though...I think the verse is more complicated than it appears....if you think on something to the point of obsession....where it controls you or interferes with your life or the life of your loved ones...then yea, it is just as bad as having done whatever you were contemplating...but to have an errant thought, no.....we cannot completely control our every thoughts....but we can keep from dwelling on them and make sure they do not control our lives...

Proverbs 12:13 says, "The wicked is ensnare by the transgressions of his lips". And Job 3:25 says, "For the thing I greatly feared has come upon me. And what I dreaded has happened to me". If you think negative thoughts, eventually they will come to pass.

There probably is, but the mind is supposed to conceive of many notions and then compare the analytical possibilities of each and then proceed on the moral path. To do otherwise is blindness.

That makes absolutely no sense what-so-ever. It is not acting out on bad thoughts that makes you a good person.

I doubt it. Jesus said it was sinful but he didn't say it was the same.
Depends on if the thoughts ruminate or you just let them go

If that's the case, then I should have gotten the death penalty at least a thousand times over by now.
