I am a 700+ Year Old Sasquatch and I was there when she tried the first few times.

1 - There were no cars then, just horses pulling wagons. She had plenty of time! Unfortunately, Chickens are not well suited to judge timing. And horses don't really care if there is a chicken in the road.

2 - The next occasion was more recent. Her name was Myrtle. Myrtle was sitting by the roadside and had just laid an egg. Unfortunately, there was a slight slope to the ground there and the egg rolled across the road. Again, horses were approaching!

Myrtle, sensing impending danger - flew across the road, narrowly missing being 'gunned down' by the galloping horse's.

She narrowly made it to the egg which unfortunately was sadly cracked as it rolled into a large stone. Another sad ending!

3 - Finally, Cars have been created. Millions and millions of them! Likewise, there are millions and millions of chicken in the world.

4 - Why are you so concerned about one lone chicken? I mean gads! I eat hundreds of them each week!

Was this your pet chicken? Dang, get a dog or a cat! Chickens are not pets (usually). If this was your pet and I ate her, I apologize.

However, I assure you she was tender and Oh, So - tasty!

Kidding - I really have no idea!

She waited until the crossing guard let her go across, she's a very responsible chicken.

She looked both ways and then just put one foot in front of the other until she got to the other side...
