Well, I have never thought of Lafayette; but I love Louisiana!
The people there are great! You can always beleive all the horrible stories that people are say about New orleans and those areas. Yes, Katrina was horrible and there are still many people that are suffering. But they are good people with great spirits and lots of fun. New Orleans itself hasn't really changed that much its still a great place.

Lafayette would be nice cause its not to far from New Orleans and I hear its really nice. We almost bought a house not to far from there in Hammond. Its a really nice small college like town.

Lafayette is a nice town, I prefer more of the county, however like Breaux Bridge, Opelousas, Washington. Within 35 minutes. Housing is much cheaper in St Landry Parish (Opelousas)

Lafayette is a wonderful town. Rich in heritage, and an abundance of wonderful food. Marvelous old Victorian houses, and fried frog legs, (yum).

i am from the south and i say no way! there is nothing there especially after hurricane katrina.its very dangerous high murder rates, drug use and unemployment.its still a mess the smart thing to do would have been to bulldoze the whole d amn place into lake pontchatrain and saved the money and trouble cause the next hurricane or flood or horrific tornado will make katrina look like a summer rain.people get out and stay out! try atlanta or raleigh or miami? good luck.
