Personally i dont think either way about it. It may be intimidating to a guy who thinks he knows a fair bit about boats and then you blow him out of the water with some crazy stuff you think only someone who has been boating for 20 years would know.
Dont let it get to ya, your still young. I am positive you will find someone who is that into boats as you are

look your 14...to a 14 year old guy the biggest turn off would be if you were fat or smelly or ugly. they really don't care what you know at that age, no offense, i mean at least you date guys who have similar interests in you. BTW it is immature for some of those boys to not like you simply because you are more informed on boats than they are, forget them. Sailing & boats is unisex, it's not a boy sport or girl sport. just a sport.

Sweetie,i am a female. However,i am going to give you my opinion as well.I dont believe guys would necessarily find "boats" to be a turn off as much as the fact that it is half your life.It is wonderful to have likes and dislikes as well as hobbies.Although, this should be exactly that,a hobbie.Dont allow it to take over your social life, etc.Having said that, you are 14,so really at this age it is quite normal to enjoy this much.I say more power to you,as there could be way worse things to get into, but you chose to use your time doing something you enjoy that is a healthy hobby! Most importantly,Dont worry what others think of you!It matters what you think of yourself and everyone is going to have their opinion. That is something you should take into consideration, but never forget that you are your number one fan!Good luck hun,and have a good night!

Wasn't aware that boating was a gender related thing. If a guy is turned off because you know more about boats then him, then he is insecure! Just because your a woman doesn't mean you have to play dumb. You should be loved for who you are, not what you know. Always be true to yourself, and you won't go wrong.

It's really a turn on when you pretend you dont know anything at all about boats, act like you dont even know what a boat is. guys really dig this. they like really really stupid girls. if you really want a guy to like you, just stay barefoot and pregnant and in the kitchen making him a sandwich...and make sure there is no path between the kitchen and the bedroom either.

You can't expect to appeal to every guy you meet so don't worry that your being into boats might put some men off. You clearly enjoy boats so stick with your interest. Don't run your life around what some guy might think!

It's unusual that a girl knows more about guys stuff than the guy, so it makes him feel inferior. Next time get a feel for what he knows and only make him think you know that much. Somethings are better left unsaid.

They're threatened by your knowledge and confidence when it comes to what is typically a male interest. There's nothing wrong with you, it's them.
