I'm reminded of being punished in Basic by the drill sergeants for calling a weapon a "gun".
"this is my weapon, this is my gun. this one's for shooting, this one's for fun."

A trained officer can remove his firearm from a holster in approximately 1.5 seconds; the same amount of time it takes the average man to charge 7 meters. That's why an officer will draw his weapon if someone threatening is relatively close.
My record is .87 seconds. I held the record in my academy class. A whistle would start us and a timer. The weapon needed to be drawn and 1 accurate shot put down range.
Wait.....what kinda' gun do you mean?

I've never timed it, but I'm pretty sure it is under one second.

You don't have time to check, and it better not be seconds.
