Cupcakes to Germany? I saw this "cupcake courrier" on the Rachael Ray show, so I was thinking of putting them in that, and FedExing them, (so she'd get them in 2 business days) but I'm worried the box might get turned upside down or tossed around while loading the packaged and the frosting on top will be a mess. Oh - the cupcakes I am shipping are from the famous "Magnolia Bakery" in NYC and they are my friend in Germany's favorite. It's her birthday coming up and I asked her what she wanted and she said: "a dozen chocolate cupcakes from Magnolia Bakery". So, I'm trying to make her birthday wish come true. Magnolia said they don't ship - I'd have to do it myself. Any ideas/suggestions.

Oh it's fine - I send bagels and donuts over seas all the time - but those can withstand being tossed around a bit. They've never ceased a box of bagles on me yet.

The cupcakes don't need to be refrigerated. They are fine at room temperture. I'm worried about the box being turned upside down by Fed Ex employees while loading. That would mess up the frosting. Does anyone know how to say: "This side up" in German?

Talk to Fed Ex before you send them out.

German for "This side up - do not turn over!"

Diese Seite oben - nicht umdrehen!

Hmmm.... cupcakes are a toughy. Sure bagels are easy but cupcakes. I suppose you could try. I looked at a picture of then on the web and that frosting is high and hanging wide.
I was thinking you might get two oversizes muffin tins with one upside down on top.

Or a more out there idea. See if you could arrange to have the frosting seperate like in a tub or pastry bag. This would be way easier to ship. But just a thought.

I seem to recall that fedex has some thing you can pay extra for. They give it care and make sure it stays right side up. This has to be a common request for many other reasons.

Ask the post office what they recommend, I think they would be the best people to ask because they can offer great tips on mailing delicate things =)

I'd first check into whether it's okay to ship food to Germany...
