Yes. Because I have studied it for ten years. And I mean really studied it. If I had paid this much attention in school I'd be a brain surgeon.... *smile*.....

I didn't start out believing it was the word of God. I have ended up that way.

Yes, 100%-- I believe it because the message is powerful enough to transform countless lives. There are many who have testified of its truths. The promises in the Bible are real, the prophecies have been fulfilled, it has never been disproven. Science has never been able to disprove it. It is a miracle that it has survived thousands of years. The Bible points to Jesus Christs as Lord and Saviour (the Old Testament prophecizes of Him-- every ritual the Jews practice points to Jesus Christ).
Of any book EVER WRITTEN, the Bible has the most ancient manuscript copies- more than Homer's Iliad, more than any other historical book. In other words, It is more verifiable than any ancient history book ever written. The dead sea scrolls which were found in the 20th century, are almost word for word to the modern Bible we have today.
I can go on and on.

Yes I do. Well when you read the account in the bible about various stories they really are factual if you compare them with history as we know it and archaeological findings. . For instance long before people realized that the earth was actually round many believed the earth was flat. All that time the bible mentions that the earth is round. I was amazed to find that answer myself as i read it in the bible. And how amazing that the bible has survived thousands of years even during the periods when people banned it and yet it remains practically unchanged.

I believe that the Bible is very historically accurate...many archologist have proven many stories to be true (though some are obviously metaphors and allegory).

But I do not belive the magical parts of the bible. The same way that I accept that Troy was real (because it was proven by archeology), yet I do not believe in Hera and Athena...nor that Hellen of troy hatched out of an egg.

Yes I believe it.
I believe it because it comes true. Read Daniel then look at the history of Alexander the Great and the resulting Governments that formed after his death.

It is proven that Daniel was written before any of this and yet, Daniel knew before it happened.

I believe it because it is true and proven true. I believe it because if everyone followed it, the world would be a much better place.

Yes. I have several logical reasons. One has to do with fulfilled prophecy, another reason is it's internal harmony despite the fact that 40 different men shared in writing it over a period of 1600 years. A final reason is that despite numerous translations over the years, it is essentially the same as when it was written. The overall message is the same. Comparisons with the earliest manuscripts available reveal only minor differences, and most of those involved grammar and spelling. Another reason is that applying it's principles in my life works. It makes me a happier, better person. When something works you stick with it.

Yes I do.
Why? Because as all historians know, it's an historical document. All of it. The only things that people really debate are the "theories" regarding whether Jesus was actually the Savior of the world or not.
Personally, as I know Jesus as my Lord and Savior, I believe in the fact that He came to save us from our own detriment (AKA sins). We are all sinners, but the Lord "bought" us with His blood when He died on the cross. That's why we who believe in Jesus' death and ressurection are free from eternal death.

I've often wondered that. I can't get very far into Genesis without being struck by the contradictions: Were Adam and Eve made from dust, or did God make Adam first and then produce Eve from his rib? God tells them not to eat the fruit from the tree of knowledge, or else they will die. The serpent tells Eve they will gain knowledge and not die; the serpent is the one who tells the truth. And so on. I get very muddled.

I'd appreciate it if someone could explain those things without relying on metaphor or the importance of faith.

I don't. I'm an atheistand i think that it should not have anything to do with people's actions. People who do base a large portion of their morals and belifs on the bible do not know any better.

I believe in Christopher Columbus b/c there is proof he existed, unlike 'jesus' i just wish people would get over their f'ng imaginary friend and learn to think on their own. If you people really studied and lived by the bible you'd be so damn confused you would end up killing yourself...you're all dumb.
