man this is a weird question. I don't know anyone who's afraid of being wise. Then you make a fair enough comment about not wanting to be dumb. ok..and then you say expeciualy being blind to God. Where did that come from?
If I were to take a gander at deciphering your question, I'd say you were wondering "Why are people afraid of acknowledging the truth of God and would rather live in ignorance?" Is that it? Please clarify.

people are not afraid of being wise. they are afraid of maybe showing wisdom.
They are afraid of showing wisdom because they are afraid of people being dependant on them or people constantly nagging them for advice. A wise person person in the real world wouldnt want too much attention.
Also being wise has nothing to do with being a warshipper of god.
Being wise is knowing about life lessons well and understanding life well. And i had to learn the hard way that its not good to try to put down people for there beliefs because it can really hurt there feelings, also hurting you inside somewhat depending on the person you hurt.

It is an epidemic run wild. Wisdom is looked down on by people looking for the easy way out. Going down to the lowest rung of the ladder. People want instant answers and want someone to tell it to them. Our ancestors worked hard to give their children a better life through education. We are about what rag we can put on to be like celebreties.
God looks for people with hearts open to learn new things. Meek, teachable people. Jesus, while on earth, did not go to the rich and powerful only. Mainly he was with the poor and middle class who wanted to do God's will when they learned what it was. Rich, powerful already were satisfied how things were and did not want to make changes in their lives.
Don't be afraid. Rejoice! Someone who is ready to ask questions is just what God is looking for. Getting answers to questions is how one becomes wise.
