I am right now. I'm trying to trust in God more and less in myself, but its just so hard, I think about my dad and how he is shunning me, and I think about other things that tend to lead me downhill, but just the other day, I was eating at a Chinese resturant, when I had some sweet and sour soup. Now this is going to sound wierd, but I felt one hundred percent better like I had never been depressed before, and I realized that I was lacking something in my diet! So my mom put me on the depression seminar and it is helping a lot, I'm trying not to worry about things to much. Even though I still do, but God has finally shown me what the problem is! Now I'm a little more relieved! Praise God!

Usually, just asking god for help makes me feel better. Getting your life organized, one little thing at a time usually makes a world of difference also. And if you are having problems with your dad…get professional help- could be your dad with the issue- not you.. Maybe family counseling?

Good luck!!

wow that is kinda weird, the whole soup thing. But hey if you add what is missing and it helps that much keep it up!!! Praise God that helped!

Yes I have been depressed before, too many times....and sometimes without a reason. Mostly there is a reason though. [*sigh*]

You know something though? being happy is a decision. You decide whether you are going to be happy or not. I knew someone once who was always happy, and I mean always!!! And it is not because he had the perfect life either. He had been through some very tough stuff. His first wife just left him!!! It was bad. But he was not bitter or anything and he was happy. He said that when he was 16, he got depressed once, and he didn't like it! SO...he decided to always be happy no matter what. And he was. Unfortunately he has passed on, but hopefully his decision has influenced others to try it.

Just remember that God is always there for you. He is your father who will always be there for you and love you, even when EVERYOnE else leaves you all alone.

[by the way there is a really good book you can get called "being happy" that I read awhile ago.]

Well i think that depression or any sad or miserable feelings only stick around if you constantly tell your self they are there. i reckon it has a lot to do with just trying to stay positive and focus on the positives instead of the negatives...it works when ever your sick with anything or going through something bad. it is about having belief in that things are going to get better in what ever form that suits you.

I was depressed as a teenager i looked at everything bad that was happening to me and had happened to me and thought i was cursed and that i would aways be stuck in this little dark room for ever. it took me quite a while to realize I'm free to think and feel however i want I'm not distant to feel miserable, and theres no way im going to let this get to me, i have the gift of being alive and existing and thats somthing to feel happy about.

I feel stronger as a person and strong in who i am. Now in a way I actually look forward to dificultys and problems, because i know i can get through them and over come them. once you accept that your cured and that there is no longer or never will be any problem then you are free.

People that actually have the chemicals lacking in their brain can't just get over it. My husband is one of these people. I on the other hand had a little depression right after giving birth to my daughter, but thank the Lord it was over in a few days. After experiencing that I feel sorry for those that have to suffer on a daily basis. Now Yes you can ask the Lord to be healed, but if the Lord has a reason for you to be depressed as in he is trying to teach you things thru it then you may stay depressed for as long as he has planned for you. Some people can get over it with the help of just counseling etc, but others need meds just so they can function in life. My husband was completely bed bound and not that he didn't pray and look for others ways out, but he actually has BiPolar. I wish it was as easy as "Getting over it."

It really isn't weird at all.Soup is good for the soul, how,I don't know but I can tell you after I have a bowl of home-made chicken soup that I have made I feel incredibly happy and good from the inside out.I also suffer from depression, from time to time sometimes I'm depressed for long periods of time.Other times I go through long periods of time where I'm not depressed,I think it depends on the severity of the depression,at the time, whether or not it can be handled with out meds, that's just for me anyway,I have had to take lexapro a couple of times to come out of my doom and gloom, because I was so depressed I couldn't even get out of bed, just to go to the bathroom and eat,and then back to bed for like 2 months straight,so sometimes we need a little more help then others.I think with depression, awareness and acceptance that you suffer from it are key

I got dpressed & got over it, but it was with mentalhealth people, my GP & support group, because of a few bad experiences with the Meds (ie hallucinations, extreme phobias that where never a problem before) so I went herballist who gave me stuff, the support group re-established the way we speak to & view ourselves has to change form negative to positve (called self-talk) & got a relationship with God, and all of that helped, every one is different, & what worked for me, may not work for some one else,. good luck I hope you find something that does (and from the sound of it you have)
Just remember it is going to take time, and there will be days where you go backwards just reasses where you are & reapply what you learn & start moving forwards.

I believe all people suffer from Depression at some point in their life, just others have more extreme cases...
Seeking help from your family doctor, preacher or a mental health facility is always the best answer if your depression feels like it is too much for you to handle...
talking and laughter are the best medicine....Always remember life is too short to be miserable and life should be enjoyed to the fullest... if you are struggling with something, seek help and get back into enjoying all that life has to offer.Happy days and good mental health to U...

Add some fun physical activity to your life. Do something you like that will get you physical exercise alone while listening to inspirational speakers or music. Most libraries now have motivational speakers in ipod format as well as CD. This will get your blood pumping & endorphines going to your brain & this really helps.

Also, if you can fit it in your schedule, take a group exercise class. I do ZUMBA at my local YWCA and it really helps me feel better & nobody cares if I am doing the movements right.

I have, but I don't think depression is something you ever truly get over. For me, depression is something I will deal with for the rest of my life. I just have to remind myself I am strong, and can make it through. I just have to work a little harder to be happy than most.

I've lived with depression most of my life. I finally had to take low dose antidepressant along with therapy.
