the first answer is correct. Many people smoke marijuana for pain and keep it hidden from the world. If you do not let people know what you are doing, you can get away with this. I understand how difficult it is to get pain medication from doctors. They force people to break the law because of their weird idea that people in chronic pain should not be addicted to painkillers. I would like to know what they think people in chronic pain are supposed to do? Richard Pryor smoked until the end of his life and he told his doctors, "you cannot help me as much as pot does."

Some states have voted to legalize the use of marijuana for medical use, and in those states it is legal, as far as the local laws are concerned, BUT, the federal government still says it is illegal, and those using or selling are in violation of federal laws, even in Alaska.
Seems like the fed's have canned "states rights" and deemed themselves dictators of the population. Your vote actually no longer counts.

Look into Marinol. It's a synthetic THC pill. It comes in 5, 10, and 20 mgs. It's not labeled for pain, only for nausea (usually in chemo patients or any other patient where other anto-emetics have failed) and to stimulate apetite in HIV patients. I am prescribed it for nausea, however, it perpetuates my pain meds when I have to take it. It also relaxes my muscles. It's also 100% legal, but you need a prescription. It's made from sesame oil, so if you're allergic to sesame, don't take it.
