From what I understand of Christian philosophy God is a loving caring creator that wants to give you eternal bliss.

But God forbid you should not believe in him or believe in a way that is out side the Christian faith (Judaism, Hinduism, Islam, etc). Instead of the eternal bliss you will be judged and sent to a place of suffering for all eternity.

Doesn’t this sound petty?

I mean why would an omnipotent and eternal creator care if someone believed in him. Or for that matter care what religion they practiced?

Don’t tell me he gets offended when someone dose not believe in him or practices the wrong religion.

Would it not be more logical to say that if there is an afterlife the person is judged more by how much good he as done in the world than by what faith he practices

I have never understood how a being that is supposed to be the great creator of the world, all-powerful, can be stricken with such fits of childish jealousy.

I cannot answer to any faith other than the Christian faith.

First, may I say, who are you to judge God petty or not? He created the world and therefore can make all the rules and your opinion of them does not matter one little bit. If you do not like it you are more than welcome to go and make your own world and your own rules.

Now from rant to explanation. God cares that you follow his ways as they are the right way. Your version of good may not always be in line with his. Therefore if you are not following Gods ways why should you receive Gods rewards?

No one knows truly what Heaven or Hell will be like and what form bliss and torment may take. Perhaps bliss will be found in the presence of God and torment knowing that you are denied forever that very presence.

You make a funny point. God wants to give you a wonderful reward and you want to haggle over the price because you are not willing to pay the price. What does that say about you?

The logic you use is flawed. 1st Christianity is not a philosophy but a religion based on ones relationship with Jesus Christ. Religions are just sets of rules that establish a belief system, which is why anyone can make up their own set of rules for their belief system and then debate others about it. Christianity uses the Bible, God's word, as the reference point for its belief system. Without some written reference, anyone could say and believe anything. I do admit that because mankind is sinful that opens the door to misinterpretation. No one person has all the answers but all can know the basic Bible truths with the Gospel of Jesus being the primary universal truth. Only those that accept God's free gift of salvation provided for us by the death, burial, and Resurrection of Jesus Christ. Jesus shed His blood for our redemption because we are sinners and deserve punishment for our rebellion, so He died in our place. We either accept this truth and God's free gift or we choose to reject it. The decision is ours so we are responsible for our destiny and where we will spend eternity. Christianity is not about doing good because we have to in order to earn salvation, but rather we choose to do good because we love Jesus and owe Him our lives for saving us. Judgment day will be about what motivated people to make the choices they did and the Bible is clear that the only true reason for doing anything, is out of love for their Savior.

Gravitol, so what does your religion say about all this? Can you get into heaven without believing in G-D? I dont believe in this Christian 'going to hell for all eternity' nonsense, but i'm not sure about getting into heaven if you dont believe in G-D. But here is something for you to think about:
Heaven is being close to G-D. The soul wants nothing more than to be close to G-D. When the soul is in our body, it is 'covered' by our body, and we usually are not much in touch with our need/longing to be close to G-D. But when the soul leaves the body, it can feel how much it wants to be close to G-D. That is heaven.
Durring our lifetime we work to improve ourselves- improve our charicter etc, and part of that is working on ourselves to love and be close to G-D. This life is the only life in which we can grow and improve. In the afterlife there is no more growth.
While the innate quality of the soul is to love G-D, the soul is affected by how we have lived our lives on earth. If we have lived our lives not believing in G-D, since there is no more growth in the afterlife, that would make it harder for the soul to be close to G-D there. That is how i understand it anyway.
By the way, i think we're the same religion. Jewish?

Remember that this is how people interpret the word of God, and knowing how often people get things completely and utterly wrong...?
A great many people do not want to believe that a person will be judged by how much good he has done in the world than by the faith he practices, because that would require actually doing some good in the world, rather than just professing faith and condemning other people's beliefs.

The Bible says which you will desire to "worship God in each and everything which you do". this would not propose to maintain analyzing the Bible or to sing songs each and all the time. This verse, even though i'm unsure which one it is, skill which you will desire to compliment God. for occasion, thanking God for giving you meals popular would desire to be worshiping God. there isn't any specific quantity of situations an afternoon you will desire to worship him, despite if, while you're a real Christian, you are able to worship him in something you do.

Actually you are quite right GOD does not care which choice you make. The benefit of accepting GOD'S love is all ours. We made the choice to come to this world for an opportunity to improve our position in heaven. What you believe does indeed make a difference.

That might make sense to you, but that's not the way that God set up the plan of salvation. Jesus said, "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life, and no man comes to the Father except through Me." Repenting of your sins and asking Christ to be your Savior is the way that God set up salvation.

The problem is that people want God to rewrite His policy to suit what they think is good or fair or right. It doesn't work that way. He is the sovereign Lord of the universe, and whether we agree with Him or not, He still sets the rules. People can kick and argue and throw all the tantrums that they want, but God is still in charge, and it's His way or no way at all.

Having said that, I will also add that I believe He is infinitely merciful and compassionate. He will go to any lengths or means to save us from Hell. But if we deliberately reject Christ's atoning death on the Cross, then we have chosen to meet God as our just Judge, not our Savior.

We're not sent to hell, we're just not let into heaven. And, for the non-Christians, why would you want to go to a place you don't believe in, anyway?

God created us to be his servants. We were each created to be part of a plan on earth, then to go to an amazing paradise after we die. We are called to go out and to witness to everyone else so they can all go to this paradise, too. Why should God let you in if you don't believe in him? It's impossible for evil to be in the presence of God in heaven, so Jesus was sent to be the sacrifice for God's new covenant, since nobody can be perfect. If you had the amazing gift of paradise waiting for you, why woudn't you take it?

And as for how much good a person does during their life - they still do a lot of bad stuff. Say you were an amazing do-gooder who kept just enough money to live on and gave the rest to charity. You read to kids in the hospital & you work at a soup kitchen. But then, one day you get mad at someone and kill them. Our society's laws dictate that you be punished for that & go to jail, even though you only killed one person and you've done good for countless other people. A judge wouldn't say, "Eh, 99% of the things you've done are amazing, so I'm going to let you go." That wouldn't be fair or just. But then say someone lies and says they actually killed the person, so you get to go free. Would you let them? It wouldn't be fair or just, but through the grace of God that's what Jesus did for us.

It's not about being petty and needing worship or getting offended when people don't believe in him - it's about getting avoiding the punishment in hell because someone else took your punishment for you... but you don't avoid the punishment if you don't let Jesus take it for you.

So, you're saying you should be able to schmooze yourself into heaven through prideful "good" works? Yes it's nice to do good things but in no way does it qualify or guarentee you access to heaven. It says in the bible good works of ourselves that are not done in Gods name are that of filthy rags to God. Doing good works in Gods name and not in vain might earn you some rewards in heaven, but do not get you there. No one person is better or worse than the next. All sins are of equal measure and none will enter heaven. Due to this you must be saved by having the Holy Spirit dwelling within you otherwise there is just carnal flesh and iniquity which cannot enter. Praise Jesus that this is possible because of him, and that we have to do nothing on our part but believe in him and have faith to enter heavens gates.

I cannot put God in a box though and he may very well reach out to people under any "religious" "factions/names" and they may very well be in heaven also. All I know is what he's taught me personally to be true, I have faith in him about that, and it is what I believe as fact. I cannot push anything on anyone and do not want to. I can only try to share the gift that God has graceously blessed me with and I've accepted: himself/love.

You would think that being a good person and helping others is all that would be required, but as you stated, God is a petty God. This makes Christianity very unattractive to me.

He's not someone I'd care to worship.
