Wow, ask a simple question and they all come crawling out of the woodwork, don't they. Sorry everyone was so disrespectful, it's such an easy question.

Jenni M got it right. We all begin our lives as females, it's a matter of biology.

Honestly that's a good question, and I'm going to go with 'I don't know'. Hopefully the science will eventually tell us.

At a guess I'd say it's part of intelligent design. Also as I understand it the y chromosome in the xy of males is actually a corrupted x chromosome, therefore as we all have female characteristics (based on being at least half x) it would make sense that we'd have some latent female characteristics not in use.

That doesn't mean it isn't the product of intelligent design though. And personally I don't believe that creationism excludes some forms of evolution within a species. We've just never encountered evolution across species. And if we did, it still wouldn't really be an argument against intelligent design...

EDIT: By the way, why are there so many taunting and insulting answers to this question? Why can't an intelligent conversation take place? It seems the atheists come on shouting how stupid the creationists are, and the creationists rail about how stupid the question is... it's very frustrating. Personally I believe there is nothing much to be gained from insulting people who have a differing view, and my own beliefs are not so shallow and flimsy that I feel threatened every time someone has a good question. I guess there are a few, like 'Hey, Ray' and 'whirling' above who put forth an honest and considered answer, but everyone who is just using this question as a forum to insult the opposing viewpoint are only succeeding in making themselves sound foolish.

Male, non-human animals have nipples because (it's been proven) if the female dies, the male would actually begin to lactate and be able to nurse at least one offspring. It's been proven true of humans as well. I can't remember the source, but I'm sure with a little research I can get the facts from the studies.

The first animals were created, the rest have been born just like human. Only a guess, but until a certain point in the gestation process humans are both male and female, it is probably the same thing in animals. Enzymes get to decide who get the "Y" and who gets the "X".
Although, I do remember one of our hired hands being referred to as "as worthless as nipples on a boar"

I don' know the answer to this but "isn't everything female upon fertilization then changes if it will be male?" So everything has nipples. Why a boar has 18 I'll never know? Also Eve created from Adam so God made the female using part of the male. I don't know why I just threw it in for free.

Dude, I just wish to apologize for the lack of decent responses. Ive learned something from this site - when you ask a serious question that no one can respond to with serious scientific explanations, you receive a myriad of personal attacks, non-responses, and contrived attempts - but nothing intelligent. Just look at Data Dork's (uh, I mean Droid) response - male nipples are for SEEING? Well, thats what your eyes are for....what kind of response is that?

Patience Grasshopper - Youve hit them with a doozy, and thats all they have left - insults and non-responses...

Because God is a pervert and he wants us to put clothes pins on them and make the fellas say "Aiieeeee!! Oh yeah baybeeeee! Do me like the p*ssy boy I am!!"

God wants us to do this and it was even in the bible until the Catholics got hold of it and took that part out because they don't want anyone to enjoy anything ever.

bi-product of genetics. different genes interact with eachother differently, soa secondary effect can result. i.e.; theoretically, a gene sequnece of ABCA can cause dark skin, but that C interacting with the second A could also make the skin slightly abbrasive. i.e.: theoretically, the X chromosome has the genes to create nipples in females, but a second X gene is required to make them feminin; so if only one is present, they could just be masculin.

Creationism cannot answer this question because of its illogical inference that there was anything outside of God to create in when there was only God.

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God;

God did not put time outside.
