That depends on preference. I prefer to go to my Gynecologist because that is what she specializes in. I have the option of using my family practitioner, but feel more comfortable with someone who knows specifically what they are doing.

This is not a stupid question but a really really easy one....go to your ob/gyn, they are the ones who specialize it woman's health and you will get a full exam, not just a pap smear like a regular doctor would do...this way you will know that you female health is were it should be.

Both can do this. Family Practice doctors can give Pap smears but Gynecologists it's their specialty.

:) First realize the only stupid question is the one not asked.
Your dr. may be able to go a pap smear but I go to a gynocologist personally.

Either one. It's up to you. As a female, you can go to your regular doc, and they can do a pap smear once a year during your annual physical. Or, if you prefer, you can go to an OB/GYN.

You would usually see an OB/GYN for a pelvic exam and pap smear, but family doctors and pediatric physicians usually also do this.

You sometimes go to a dr. first to have him give you a referal for a gyne (depending on insurance). But the gynecologist is usually the one to do the pap.

You can go to either but I suggest a OB GYN because that is what they specialize in.
