its very easy but boring must say. get a new scanner able to do paper and film and this will do all the work. usually 4 dias can be processed at a time so imagine how long the process will take depending on the number of slides your parents took. producers are many so the choice is up to your pocket. the resolution is what you should look at as the result of your work depends on it, higher - and costlier - the resolution, the better the result.
slides should be put in very flat frames otherwise some scanners can't read them, so if the slides are many....one thing more: higher the resolution and heavier the file saved to your harddisk!

You need a scanner that's capable of scanning transparancies. Several scanners have the capability, but you often have to get optional hardware to actually do it. You can also get a dedicated slide scanner for $200( and up), but it can be a big job doing it yourself.

Having them scanned professionally might be the way to go if the number of slides doesn't make it cost prohibitive

Look at some of the scanners from HP, they have a carrier for slides which makes it very easy to scan in pictures off slides on to your PC.

Look for a slide/negative scanner on eBay. When you're done with it - put it back up for auction. You should get most of your money back & it will probably work out cheaper than getting someone else to do it for you.

On my checklist of priorities in a image, determination falls at enormously plenty the backside of the checklist. there's a plethora photographers who foam on the mouth to get yet another megapixel of determination, while the proper print merely approximately continually looks a similar. heavily, any digicam on the marketplace at present, 35mm or digital SLR, have a lot of determination. in case you're worried which you will not have sufficient determination on your prints, get a medium format action picture digicam and it will stop to be a topic. you are able to %. up a used Mamiya RB67 professional with a 90mm f/3.5 C lens in stable situation for around $250. you are able to %. up a effective epson flatbed action picture scanner for $250-$500. in case you do not know why you will "want" to make the transition from action picture to digital, then you certainly in all possibility do not "want" to do something. it incredibly is a stable mantra for any kit subject. the advantages of digital are convenience and a low working fee, to boot as some technical reward alongside with extra shadow ingredient and decrease noise. i'd say the main reason that many bypass with digital is the ease -- you are able to take a picture and function on the spot feedback. With action picture, you have would would desire to attend days or perhaps weeks to correctly known in case you get carry of it ultimate. action picture, to me, is extra versatile as you are able to exchange the characteristics of your "Sensor" by way of utilising changing the action picture. you're actually not modifying the concepts after the image is taken utilising classes and algorithms, you're actually changing the sensor (action picture) itself to in good shape the situation handy. Likewise, action picture kit is being bought used for pocket exchange, yet expenditures extra for each shot which you're taking. action picture's been perfected over a hundred+ years, while digital has approximately 8-10 years of shopper backing at the back of it. action picture and digital isn't a rely of stable and undesirable -- they the two have specific purposes at which they excel and specific looks or kinds to boot. Switching between action picture and digital is an argument of private flavor. merely, ya know, make photographs.
