My dad passed-on and I don't want it . I'm gonna try to sell it and I also need to know if there are any forms I must fill-out .

BTW, it looks brand-new , almost pristine and it comes with a leather case .

The value can vary greatly based on the age and version of 1300 it is. It can be anywhere from $250 on up to $600+ for some of the rarer versions. You can check the version by checking a price guide and referencing the serial number.

As far as forms there is nothing required for a private sale on a federal level. You may want to check on any state or local laws with your local sheriff department. If you would like a little more piece of mind, you could sell or consign it to a FFL licensed sporting goods store. They will have to file paperwork on the transfers, so that if something unscrupulous happens with the gun in the future, you will have a paper trail showing separation.

Sorry to hear about your loss. You don't need to fill out any forms to sell it. You can even sell it on a sight like eBay, it will just have to be shipped to a gun dealer. Winchester is no longer making guns and the value could increase. Right now, it is worth between $300 and $400. someone in your family may want it as a keepsake to pass down thru the generations.

I saw your question earlier when it was first posted.

First let me offer my condolences on the passing of your Father. I wish you and your family peace.

I called a friend of ours who is a gunsmith. He said that gun should go for something right around $350, and you can expect another $50 for the case. He also said that's if the gun is just regular factory issue. If it has a special stock or special modifications, that will change the value.

I know you may desperately want to get rid of the gun now, but I encourage you to stick it in a safe place and not act on it for 3-6 months. I hate the thought of you selling it only to find out down the road that you want it back because it belonged to your Dad.

I will be thinking about you, and wishing you the best.

Be at peace,
Bronwen

It depends on what the grade of the wood is. They can run anywhere from $400.00 on up to $750.00.

The best thing to do is take to a shop and let them look at it. What ever they say it is worth you can normally double the price.

As for the laws. If it is a private sale then there are no forms to fill out. If you sell to a dealer then you do have forms to fill out.

Earnest-I am so sorry about your father. I found a site w/ several models for you:

You may want to think about keeping it for nostalgic reasons--or if you have a son you could pass it on to someday (or nephew).

As far as forms to fill out--I'd check w/ the sheriff's dept. We had a local gun dealer here just raided for not filling out the proper paperwork (buy, sell, trade). The ATF still has my huby's gun that was there for repair! Make sure you get the paperwork done right!

I own a Winchester 1300 as well, its worth around the $300-$400 zone depending on the kind of stock or version it's in.

It wouldn't really be worth selling, it's worth shooting it a bit and see if you like it.

I would probly keep that gun. Winchester has quit making guns, and if you dont care that it was your dads, then keep it for a couple of years and get more moeny out of it. Right now its probly worth around $300, if it has all three choke tubes with it and its older, but if you wait the value will go up. Why would you get rid of your dads gun though?

Sorry about the loss of your dad. Maybe you could keep that Winchester for awhile before you get rid of it.

Your dad took good care of it because he obviously loved it. You might find out that you like it after awhile.

NO no way that much I have two that I bought one used and one new 229.00 new 175.00 used
as far as paper work it depends on what state you are selling it in.
Whatever state you do sell it in get a bill of sells on it to protect your self in case a crime is committed with the gun.
