Lots of answers above but nobody else has a cure....
It's not that unusual and it's not usually very serious scuba divers call this the twirly bends it's because of a lack of oxygen to the brain. Now before you run off to the doctor try this it only costs about $3.00, it used to happen to me but not anymore.
Here is something that will cure this, I had a GF that had a very bad case of this, she would actually faint and fall on the ground, I showed her this now she's cured.
Please try this and then email me and tell me if it works for you. I am seriously interested.
Go to the grocery store and buy fresh bunch or bagged spinach, not the canned kind. If you hate spinach don't worry it tastes really good prepared like this. No Fear!!!
If you get the bunched spinach cut the stems off and throw them away. Wash the spinach leaves really, really good by filling the sink or a bowl with cold water do this at least 2 times make sure you get all the dirt off, bagged spinach is usually cleaner but it costs a lot more.
Drain off the water stuff the leaves into a pan half full of water the leaves are really fluffy don't worry just press the lid down hard, they will go down a lot, bring to a boil for about 5 minutes.
Pour all of the water off as much as you can, it helps to mash it down with a fork to squeese as much water out as possible. Do not rinse the leaves, just drain off the water.
While it's still hot put in a bunch of butter the more the tastier, if you are watching your weight U might want to use a little less. Whip it up really, really good you can use a fork, a whisk or a mixer, make it really creamy. Use a little salt if you want what ever taste that you prefer.
Tastes good huh? You can include this as a side dish with other food people love it. Eat this 2 or 3 times a week and you will notice an immediate improvement.
Please try this and then write to me and tell me if it worked that goes for anyone else that tries it.

Yes you should see a Doctor.
It's more common in females to have the symptoms you describe. What it means is you have low blood pressure and most likely have low iron levels. I suffer the same problem and have been very lucky not to have harmed myself when I passed out.
Now I have learnt as soon as that happens I bend over and get my head down low between my knees. It also happens to me more often when it's that time of the month.

I'd see a doctor.
Is this a new occurrence or has this been ongoing for a while? You might have really, REALLY bad circulation or really low blood pressure that might cause these blackouts when you stand up suddenly.
Better to get checked out to make sure that it is something small and controllable rather than something serious.

It's probably the blood falling.. I feel the effects more when my blood is thin (like filled with alcohol) a good test for you would be to test your blood pressure when your relaxed! Just remember that at certain times our blood will be thicker..less water or thinner- filled with water. I hope this answers your question.

You have a sudden drop in blood pressure - not enough blood and therefore, oxygen, making it to the brain. Once in a while would be okay - but constantly? You need to see a doctor.

No that is not normal. It could be a lot of different reasons. So I would check with your doctor as soon as possible. Hope your feeling better soon.

No, this is not normal. I suspect a quick drop in blood pressure. Do see your Doctor.

See a doctor , what you are describing is symptoms of orthostatic hypo or hypertension. See a doctor ASAP . He/she can help you find the cause and get it under control.
