The female's pelvis is wider than the male's. This allows babies to pass through it. It also puts the adult woman's thigh bones at a bit of an angle, which makes her knee joints somewhat less stable than a man's knees.

The shape of the pelvis is different in male and female skeletons. On women the foramen (hole) in the center of the pelvis is large enough for an infant's head to pass through.
