Well you are asking a complicated question. The stomach is more important if you want to continue eating as you normally would.

The small intestine is important if you want to evacuate the way you normally would.

You can live without either ...but without a stomach you need to be tube fed liquid supplements.
Without a small intestine you miss out on some major nutrient absorption and have dumping syndrome...which means you run to the bathroom about 2 minutes after eating.

So you make the choice ...which one is more important to you ?

The small intestine by far. Most of your digestion and nutrient absorbtion occur in the small intestine. The stomach is mostly for storage. It starts to break down your food, but not much more. That is why gastric bypass surgery works. It makes the food skip over the stomach and sends it almost straight to the small intestine. Since there is no stomach to store the food in, people can't eat very much at one time.

Small intestine is more important as that's where most of the food is absorbed. You can exist being tube fed ( IV), but that limits you more than missing a stomach.

That depends...if you are talking nutritional absorption, then it is the small intestine. The stomach only breaks down and dissolves the nutrients for the sm. int. to absorb. You can live without a stomach...you die without a small intestine...point made?

impossible to answer - not enough data - for example: which is more important, the heart or the lungs - you die without either. Necessary and different tasks are provided by both organs. Important for what?
