He said he was going to retire in 2005 but his replacement was not ready for the Nextel cup series, then he said he was going retire last year, but he still wanted to race but only part time.

I seriously don't think he'll completely retire until he can't get behind the wheel, like a lot of the older generation drivers because they love to race. It might not be just in Nascar, but could be just at some small time tracks.

I wish He Will Go Back To Full Time Racing I Think If He Would Of Raced In the Race He Didn't Race In He Would Be The Leader And Might Get His First Cup I Like Mark Martin

Mark Martin is probably still years away from retiring. Old habits die hard. He has still remained a competitive driver and shown that a one car team can still compete in Nascar. Mark Martin is only 48 years old. Dale Sr. was 51 when his career was ended. I think that Sr. was so competitive That if he was still alive he would probably be still racing, maybe part-time but still racing. The funny thing is Mark is still 10th in points and has missed 2 races. That's how good he is, even though the championship alluded him. He may stop racing stock cars soon, but will probably move to his second love the Truck Series.

He will probably run a part time schedule with Ginn racing for a couple more years. He may scale back a little more each year.

If his son manages to make it up into the Nextel ranks, I think he would finally retire from driving, but be a part of his son's team.

I wish he would retire already, I never was a fan of his, but after he raced a full year after he said he was going to retire, I lost a lot of respect I had for him, even more so this year. I don't mind what DW did come back for a race or two, but what Mark is doing is ridiculous, either retire or quit saying youre going to. Its just like Tony Stewart last year at Daytona, stating all this bump drafting and wreckless driving is going to kill someone, so what does he do he goes out and blatently takes out Matt Kenseth, could very well have hurt Kenseth too with that move. I'm not a fan of either of those two either. But..

from what I've heard, he announced it himself, he has signed a 5 year contract with Ginn racing, so he'll still be around in 5 years. I just wish he'd retire like he said he was going to at the end of 2005.

At first, I thought he was going to change his mind this year and drive the full season, but he's been true to his word and has gotten out of the car when he said he would. So, now, I think he'll probably retire for good at the end of the '08 season. It depends on how the COT races go for him. And judging by Phoenix, they're treating him pretty well.

Mark Martin is never going to retire, they are going to have to drag ol' Ross Perot away kicking and screaming. I personally am not a fan of him, but he is a good driver and is going to help mentor Regan Smith and Ricky Carmichael over at Ginn Racing. If you can learn racing from anybody, it's Mark Martin.

Well, he agreed to race in 2006 b/c i think he felt like he owed it to Jack for all those years, but me personally i think Jack should have never asked him to stay another year. He and his family were very excited about him retiring and being able to be completely involved in his son Matt's racing. And for this year, Jack asked him again to stay another year, Mark said no enough is enough, he tried to compromise, Mark said the most he would do is part time, Jack wouldn't agree to it so Mark said ok thanks but no thanks. he's working with Ginn racing to help the new drivers out. I say within the next year, maybe possibly 2.

I think it's funny how Jack refused to agree to the part time ride.....first time mark has been in the chevy, and he's doing great, and he loves his car. For the past several years, if you all notice, Mark was very unhappy with his team's performance (his crew) and his cars.....but this year he's been happy with the crew and loved his cars. he's having fun, and that's what its all about.

Mark Martin is one of my favorite drivers. I think he wants to retire but he really enjoys racing. What impresses me about Mark is he never complains he enjoys what he does. I think he just wanted to make a move away from Rouch racing. I think he has done better.
