I just quit 13 days ago, and have been off of nicotine (gum/patches) for 6 days.. this is after smoking for 8 years and 3 failed attempts to quit. I finally found myself in an emotionally "ready" state.. that being said, I don't think any amount of slogans will really drive people to quit smoking.
I think something that would give people an understanding of how important life is, might make them want to live longer/quit smoking, but that is something only the smoker can do for themselves.
For me, a new understand of Atheism, and what life is really about gave me the strength to take hold of life, instead of letting it willingly slip thought my finger tips.
All of the anti-smoking campagnes really don't help, in fact, they only made me want to smoke MORE out of spite (in a way.)

How about this: Cigarettes: We won't ban 'em - we like the tax dollars too much. I would personally like to thank you for contributing to the state's coffers by willingly purchasing a product whose price has been multiplied several times over by taxes - but you'd better not smoke them within a mile of my immediate vicinity you stinky evil bastard - you will die the horrible cancer ridden death you deserve!

Thou shalt not smoke, chew or have sex with tobacco. Because cigarettes left in ashtrays can be eaten by small children and since nicotine is a poison they can die.
