I've never met someone who was home schooled and not a Christian.
Any other religions home school?
I'm asking, because when doing a web search on Home schooling, the curriculum is always Christ centered.

*** Danni.... I'm sorry If the wording was off. I didn't say that every Christian was Home Schooled, I said every Home schooled person "I" met was a Christian.
Just looking for diversity/or common ground.

I will be homeschooling my two children next year. I know quite a few Christian families, several pagan families, and one or two secular familes who are already homeschooling.
Statistically, homeschoolers out-perform both private and public schoolers by the time they reach high school. The idea that these children are all isolated from society is simply not true. I know this does happen, but most familes I meet are having to work at keeping the schedules reasonable because so many opportunities exist. (homeschool sports, scouting, homeschool PE, co-ops, and field trip groups, etc.)
There are both secular and Christian curriculum available. I hear Oak Meadow is a good secular choice.

I disagree with that.
I wasn't home schooled (thank goodness!) and I am a Christian raised by Christian parents.
My husband, on the other hand, was home schooled, and only his mother is Christian.
He absolutely HATED being home schooled, but he had no choice! The curriculum was absolutely not Christ centered, but was still a poor substitute to a secular education.
She used his "learning disability" (it took him a while to learn to read but he made up for it! He's a very intelligent man with an amazing aptitude for technology) as an excuse to keep him at home and away from the rest of society. (she's a real piece of work, I tell you what)
But no, Jesus wasn't mentioned at all in the curriculum. My hubby's youngest sister is homeschooling and I've seen her books. They look normal to me. I think you are over generalizing things a bit :0)

There are definitely some who are home schooled that aren't Christian. I know several that are, or were home schooled because their parents are hippys, or naturalists, and they prefer to teach their children at home. It was a popular thing to do with parents from the 60's and early 70's. I think that you will find that parents who homestead, tend to home school their children as well, some are Christian and some are not.

Yes, non-Christians homeschool but it's usually for different reasons. Sometimes, the parents are worried about violence and drugs in the schools, or they cannot afford the private education they want and the public schools in their area are terrible.
You're right, though, the majority are Christians as are the texts, but you can buy secular textbooks anywhere.

Most curriculim is Christ centered. But I have a friend here on R&S who homeschools her children and she is atheist. She still uses the curriculum, though. It is associated with John Hopkins University.

We are non-Christian homeschoolers... Mostly Pagan,my hubby is athiest. I was afraid of not finding others like us but was suprised to find that there are many of us out there... group searches online are a great place to start...
We mostly Unschool but we have a bit of structure that I create... I know some non-C homeschoolers who use Oak Meadow and/ or Enki curriculum. Enki is great but they dont have curriculum for my daughter's grade level yet.
Here are some sites

www.oakmeadow.com
