i spotted a really wealthy former politician (senior cabinet minister no less) running to catch an easyjet flight to the south of france. Why would someone so obviously well off want to do that? Surely low cost carriers are for people on a budget? How mean can you get?

If you are rich enough, then air miles don't matter. What matters is your time. The less time you spend in the air and waiting is worth more than the comfort of an airplane. If Easyjet has the best direct flight on the times that fit your lifestyle then you take it.

Most rich people, at least in the US, live very non-lavish lives. It's the poor people that are always putting on a "front" of wealth.

First of all, it is none of your business how people want to spend their money
2) Esayjet flies to cities that major airlines don't. So you don't know where this guy was going.
3) Maybe he missed his flight and could get on Easyjet instead !
4) Don't ask stupid questions on this site. You will get stupid answer and you deserve it !!!

What's his alternative? He can pay more for a hi cost carrier to sit in the same seat for the same time with the same (probably bad) service. Why should he throw his money away? Would you?

Well these politicians have expense accounts and it makes sense for them to use the cheapest mode of travel possible so that they can line their pockets for their retirement funds.
How do you think the rich get richer... buy saving their money and we big spenders get poorer... because we are so stupid and waste money.

I am not sure. I know in the USA most politians fly on usairways because it is the "government" choice airline.
I don't think anyone should judge who can and does travel and how they travel. We should just be happy that people ARE travelling because it's helping the economy!

Obviously you haven't figured out that the way rich people stay rich is by NOT spending their money.
