Several people have given your the IRS number and links. I wonder why a potential employer wants to see prior tax returns. I am required to list all debts and authorize a credit inquiry annually for my job at a bank. They have never asked to see tax returns. The only reason I can think of why any employer would need tax returns is if a security clearance was required. If that was the case, they would not ask you for copies, they would have you sign a form allowing them to get the returns directly from the IRS.

1-800-829-1040. Or have a look here for more information: http://www.irs.gov/faqs/faq-kw31.html

You should have a copy of your 2006 return in your possession right now. There is a $39.00 charge for copies of a return. It takes about 6 weeks to get a copy of a return.

You can get a transcript of tax returns for free. Transcripts include most of the information from a filed return and can usually be used where a copy of a return is requested. Transcripts take about 2 weeks.

I'm curious as to your reason. In all of my working years I've never had to provide a copy of a tax return as part of a job application package. This is highy unusual.

I'd be very careful, though, about giving copies of tax returns to someone at a job you're applying for - that's a very strange request. Did they say why they need them? It could be the first step toward having your identity stolen.

Not sure how quickly they can get this to you.

If you file using Turbo Tax or another online program - you can download off of the net.

Go to IRS.gov and look for "Contact Us". There should be a customer service number listed.
