I always wanted to be a mother. Growing up, I never knew what career I wanted. All I knew was that I wanted a family. My husband and I got married at 19 and 20. Our daughter was a surprise. We didnt mean to have a child at that age, but it happened, and we have no regrets. It is the best surprise we have ever gotten! It changed our lives for the better, and helped us realize what we really want from life, and not to waste the time we are given. We LOVE being parents. Our daughter is now 2, and we will soon be trying for baby #2. Being parents is incredibly fulfilling to us. Even though we always knew we wanted children, we had no idea how much we would love it, until we actually had one. At this point, we are planning on total of 4 kids. Things may change, but that is what seems ideal for us.

I was sure enough 3/4 years ago that I didn't want any children. Having brought up my daughter on her own ( 16 years old now! ) I was pretty sure that I was looking forward to the freedom etc I would gain when she got old enough. It put me off dating younger men because I 'knew' I wouldn't give them family...however! Two and a half years ago I met a wonderful man. He had been separated for 18 months and had 4 grown up children - at that time aged 16 - 20 - he was sure that he didn't want any more children, so we were both ok about it. BUT things gradually started to change, conversations changed from 'why couldn't we have met 15 years ago?' 'wonder what our children would have looked like?' to 'what if?'. I'm now waiting to give birth any day.
As for my partner, who got the fright of his life when we conceived after only a week or two of trying, he is giddy with it all, is so looking forward to being able to enjoy this baby with an established career, income, maturity and not worrying about getting to the pub with his mates 2/3 nights a week.
Me? I can't believe how lucky we are, never imagined at 40 we'd get a chance to be a family with all the pros and cons it entails.

Always wanted kids...4 to be exact. But after my parents helped raise my niece and two nephews (I was still a young teen at the time), I decided 2 kids were enough!! Had my first at a young age,(almost 19) and didn`t have my second until almost 11 years later!! Now surprise! I`m 6 months pregnant with #3 !!! Not planned at all but very well wanted!

I knew I would have kids just didnt know when, the change is a shock because you honestly dont know what you used to do with your time, the right person? who is the right person you like to think the person you are with is the right one but it has to be right for both of you to have children and no my pregnancy wasnt an accident it was planned, didnt happen for 4 years until we did the IVF thing and now we have a beautiful daughter.

Growing up I always thought I wanted to have kids some day but wasn't in any rush to have them - even after I'd been married 3 years. My husband declared it was time and kept checking to see if I'd stopped taking the pill yet. I think going from the concept of having kids to the reality was a big leap, as it should be. Our 6 and 3 year old were both planned and I couldn't love them more, but I'm glad we waited.

I never want to physically give birth to a child but I have enjoyed raising my niece who came to live with me from a very early age. Now that I'm staring 30 in the face, I still feel the same way. Something about pregnancy and childbirth frightens me more than anything else so I doubt I'll ever go through it. But there are other options so adoption is definitely a route we will take in the future.
Peace,
Jenn

Hi
I was on the pill and fell pregnant only 3months into my relationship. My partner is 6 yrs older than me so he was definately ready. I wasnt so sure as i was only 20 at the time. Through my pregnancy i felt absolutely nothing which worried me so much but when i finally had her i loved her straight away and all those doubts subsided.
